I know they are just based on my own experiences.
When I first realized it was Lyme that put me in bed for months, I couldn't find ANYONE local with Lyme or knew someone who treats.
When I was hospitalized (now having my Lyme diagnosis) it was like I was a side show. Having previously worked at that hospital, I knew some of them.
Peeking around doors, curtains etc.. One being one of our local I.D. docs. "We don't treat Lyme".
I thank God my PCP was open to Lyme.
Move forward to today.
I learned that word spread through that hospital of my diagnosis. One of the docs apparently took it seriously as his child had been ill and they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
You got it! He was diagnosed with Lyme.
My PCP now looks for Lyme when he gets a patient with sudden onset "dementia" and other unexplainable complaints.
He told me about a year ago or so that he had some light up like a Christmas tree on their WB and had lesions show up on MRIs.
AND... He treated aggressively and they got better!
I've been to my oral surgeon multiple times now and the receptionist has told me of a few people she knows with Lyme.
At the DMV, two women told me of people they know with Lyme and how bad it is.
My ENT and his colleague have responded "Wow Chronic Lyme can be really debilitating!"
There is hardly a time now that I talk to someone and they don't know someone with Lyme.
We ARE making a difference!!!

Nice Post. Sad it's so prevalent. But good it's getting more acknowledged!

This is true, what you're saying, and it's only going to snowball as more and more people discover what they actually have.

Our purpose is to educate and make others aware.
Our climb to the mountain top is slow but we're gaining ground every day.
Lyme veterans are some of the most vocal people out there.
I heard this on TV last night. I paused, rewind and wrote this down.......
You've got to be a blessing in order to get your blessings.
Lyme warriors are blessings.
