My son is graduating this year and his senior picnic is today.
AND it is at the same place where he got lyme when he was ten years old. He was tick-bombed there by nymphs and had EM rashes all over his ankles and feet.
As you might guess, I am about to have a breakdown.
He is in remission AND denial about the whole thing.
They probably won't be in the woods, but doing the paddle boats, volleyball, basketball, fishing. But still...

Praying for your son, linky...and all the others that will be there with him.
May God protect them all.
I also pray he will let you look him over when he gets home.

Thanks, Dekrator. He knows he will have to endure a tick check when he gets home

Linky-I understand exactly the panic you are feeling about the risk of lyme where he is going.
Bug spray and a tick check, it is the best that can be done.
Unless you can convince him to go have a long shower after the tick check too.
Otherwise it is up to god. I will pray your son has a wonderful, fun time, bonding with his peers today, and he remains tick free. Posts: 4358 | From British Columbia, Canada | Registered: Jun 2013

My son is also going to his senior picnic soon and I am freaking out already! I have called the school to see where the kids are able to sit other than the grass, and I think the woman just thought I was nuts!
I have told my son he may not sit on the grass, and he has to use bug spray and get a tick check from me too, or else he cannot go.
He thinks I am being far too overprotective and thinks he is immune from getting a tick bite again!
I totally feel the anxiety you had about the situation and am so glad your son is ok!

oceangirl, I feel your pain. And it's so hard having people think we're nuts on top of everything else.
Sounds like you have done all you can to keep him safe.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
