Havent felt well after inhaling a huge amount of asbestoes dust.

Its a long story,,,but just doing a little home repair,,,innocent enough.

Didnt feel well right away and now it is getting worse and worse.

Feels alot like walking pneumonia and has been hanging on about two weeks.

What little I googled and read it wont go away for years maybe ,,,if ever.

Been on abx for most of a week and no help

Any one heard of any home remedies ?? Doubt there are any but hoping for anthing these days.

Don,
I hope you have seen a doctor, or gone to an emergency room by now. Please take care of you right away.

Have never heard of anything they CAN do.

Every day it seems to get some worse,,wonder where it ends?

Just Don,

I thought I told you to stay off all ladders. I know, nothing to do with this, but you sure are a challenge sometimes. So sorry you are feeling so poorly. Its got to be scary!

I have to admit I have no experience with asbestos, other than to know to stay away from it. And that it can take 20 years or more before symptoms appear after being exposed to asbestos dust.

But, what you describe makes me think either pneumonia or something called histoplasmosis (inhaling/absorbing dust from dirty birds and bat dung, etc.) Could some of that be mixed in with the "dust" you inhaled?

EITHER WAY, whatever it might be, its time to go see a lung (or regular) doctor because it continues to get worse.

Histoplasmosis can be checked with a urine test (blood tests take a long time to get back). A chest x-ray can help a lung doc see what is going on (and he/she may not even need to do one).

If nothing else an inhaler they could prescribe may be helpful to allow you to breathe.

Histoplasmosis is treated in the acute stages for a few months, but if it becomes chronic the treatment can be extended for a long time.

If I remember right, histo is a fungus and I think yeast meds are used to kill the fungus. Flouzonocole? My spelling may be off. Actually, way off, wait a sec.

Fluconazole.

Tomorrow there may be a doc in a box, or walk in clinic open that could check you out. Better get 'er done ASAP.

I am just throwing out the histo possibility as I am assuming house remodeling can include working in attics, garages, basements, etc. and pulling out old walls/ceilings.

I got mine years ago from a tick bite, but it is typically found (or reported more) in the Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer areas- along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

Please write back and let me know how the appointment went. And in the meantime, I hope you don't get freaky and feel better!!!!

I agree it might be a good thing to shake hands with a doc just so you can say you did.

Who knows. Maybe there is something that can be done.

Well you will never believe THIS.

Was also talking to my daughter who is like a nurse practitioner last night.

Previously all day yesterday just slept and slept half the day away.

ONLY day of the week I can sleep in so take the opportunity to not get up till 5 or 6 AM. About 3 long naps after that.

Anyway woke up about 1 am this morning and felt NORMAL for the first time in almost a couple weeks since it happened.

No chest tightness at all like before..

Indeed the PLAN was to call the docs office and ask if there was any help.

Complicating this issue was 2 sets of different issues. Hard to sort out sometimes.

I am deathly allergic to something in an attic,,,every time I go up without a respirator I get sick.

Then this asbestos issue that came out of the blue.

So maybe the abx I am finishing today kicked in somehow,,,OR I received some mighty powerful prayers

So this morning I worked my normal 5 hour shift at my regular job,,,then spent next 5 hours working on problem removal so it will never happen again.

Learned alot from this episode tho,,,will grab the respirator mask MUCH sooner and quicker next time it MIGHT occur.

AND I am buying another one so it is always handy where I am cause too many job sites.

So the coast is clear here and all better believe it or not...ANY touch of repeat of it I am going directly to doc.

ONLY reason I didnt this time was 'docs' roll up the sidewalks here on Thursday or Friday

and dont put them back out till Monday or Tuesdays around here.

Its not the END of the world here,,,,but we can see it from "HERE"

Every time I go in the attic especially or basement, I start getting allergy symptoms. Attic unfinished, just insulation, studs, etc. Basement is a crawl space. So I wear a mask to go both places. Don't know what is causing it though.

Hey Don
I worked in the stuf for years. We would pull brake drums and use a air blower and blow the dirt out of the brakes - chewed up asbestos!!

I think it takes years to develop problems from it . You probably got a bacteria going around.

I had a lung infection not 5 weeks ago it was horrible. It was going arround.

The meds for it and my diverticulosis set off terrible herxes that about killed me.

I am still not over all of it but am hanging in there.

My liver is better,it got blown out of the universe by Lyme toxins.

My diverticulosis came back friday! I am on amoxicillin and go the the doc. again on thursday.(BUT NOT LEVIQUIN)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NEVER AGAIN!!!! It will kill you!!!

I read online what maddog said...it can cause problems but usually not for 10-15 years

Today my son told me he inhaled dust and metal pieces grinding something on a car. He was embarrassed he didnt use a mask but kinda scared cuz he was spitting up blood

Doc told him.he will probably be ok...the body is good at healing

can you afford to have your attic cleaned out, including insulation, and have new bio friendly put in? might be worth it.

Melanie,

I have to sleep now since I have to work till close tonight.

Any chance you could e-mail me...you can PM me for a newer addy.

Or do you still have the same phone number,,,a short call would even be better.

Kam,,,tried returning your PM but your box is full,,,any chance you can make a small space for me?

Thinking of taking a 2 or 3 week vacation very soon,,,,convince me where I should go and who to see.

I might get this 'sick' attic fixed soon as I get a new roof on complete with ridge vent vent,,,and a new vent stack,,,and chimney removal

The old brick chimney might hold some surprises as it USED to be a bat haven but they were evicted 20 years ago

I see more respirators in my short term future. Wish they made a good one to be used with glasses on. MOST are not glasses friendly
