Dr. Schinazi works at the VA, he develops a Hepatitis C drug cure on the side with VA labs and funding. Dr. Schinazi makes his own company to sell the drug, drug gets jacked up to a price beyond affordable for veterans who have Hepatitis C. Yet the drug is able to cure you within 19 days...
Free market is lovely, ain't it...
By the way, ineteresting how Veterans had gotten Hepatitis C in Vietnam, through blood transfusions and "vaccines."

Veterans are not the only ones getting shafted on this deal. And are you following the story of that hedge fund guy that jacked up the only good treatment for toxoplasmosis? Where are the lynch mobs when you need them?
But the kicker here is, the Doctor who developed the drug used VA labs and funding to create it on the side....
He's worked for the VA since 1983.
See the irony!
Please try to understand why there isn't any regulations, understand what a free market and who the capitalists are that support it...
No Lynch mobs, because people are conned into thinking capitalism is good. And socialism is communism/bad!
My sister in law is over in France, costs nothing for an MRI. While here it's ridiculous.

You don't have to convince me. For profit health insurance companies are infuriating. And drug companies that rip people off are too. Something bad smelling about those who profit off the misery of others. That hedge fund guy tops my list.
Obamacare was an attempt to head in the direction of universal healthcare, but was prevented from going far enough with it. And there are people on this forum who thought it should not have gone anywhere at all, despite all the trouble we have had with getting lyme treatment paid for by health insurers.

a neighbor was able to get this drug needed via grant for hep c. i have not been able to read the article or even know if you need it.
if you do, let me know and i will ask him more about how he got it...
i do know it was very costly and not something a person can pay out of pocket for.
yes, i agree that it is wrong insurance companies are making billion dollar profits and CEO's are making million dollar salaries and drug companies are over the top with costs and then some.
but since the insurance company is in the back packet of those in the house and senate that needs to change first...how...I do not know.

Obama is gutless, but honestly, he's probably the best choice from all the candidates there were. Obamacare was in the right direction, but too many middle class people's insurance was raised, rather than hitting the upper class with the bill.
No one wants believe they'll get sick, come down with Lyme Disease, AIDs, Hepatitis C etc...
But it happens to the best of us and people need start thinking what's best for their health, what's best for their food, the economy, what's best for wages.
Rather than voting what's best for their Religion or faith, guns, sad to say what lot of these candidates use to persuade middle and lower class people.
People need to understand, just turn of the century capitalism has really gone full blown in this country.
Pope completely frowns upon it, but we have our own religious political leaders that disagree with the pope. Hypocrites to say the least!
It's interesting, because we claim to be a very religious country, yet our whole system is based on greed and corporatism... It's all just a complete contradiction!
Greed has torn this country apart, things really need to change.
A lot of people never want to talk politics on boards like these, but truth matter is, voting for same people expecting same result will get you know where...
I'm curious to see what Curza's CZ-99 will go for once it hits the market...

Muscle- I see TuTu got you. HA!
I was going to warn you and save you a little butt-kicking, but you got caught! No polly-tics here. Sorry I wasn't any quicker!
But, also wanted to say you are right when you said...
"But it happens to the best of us and people need start thinking what's best for their health, what's best for their food, the economy, what's best for wages."
And this statement from the article can really open ones eyes.
"Dr. Schinazi made more than $400 million when he sold his company for $11 billion to pharmaceutical giant Gilead in 2012."
Think that would be helpful? Often times folks don't check out deals or sales or whatever. Do you want to share it with the articles author? Would love to try to help this Vietnam vet.
