And I accompanied a dancer who danced the faun part while I played an arrangement of the Afternoon of a Faun dance suite by Debussy and we got recorded for the radio locally and beyond!
I'm sure more videos will get posted soon...
Today, all 12 pianos had professionals playing them, then there was an 80-piece orchestra that played through two piano concertos - it's a democratic orchestra that anyone can join as long as they can play!
So what's going on out here is a revolution in how music is accessed - it's being brought out in public spaces. They started putting pianos on bluffs overlooking the ocean, like playing to the whales...and it grew, to city intersections, park spaces, and finally the extravaganza in GG Park, 2nd year of it.

Yes, anyone can play, even kids, people who have never played before. One little girl sat down and messed around, people asked her what it was, she said she just made it up, and everyone applauded for her!
I cracked up over this video: how to close up a piano at Flower Piano - very elegantly done -
It all started when John Cage sat down at a piano for 4:33 seconds and just sat there - the audience got restless, until they realized they WERE the performance and then started laughing.
This is a variation on that. Mauro's on the keyboard and Dean's on the right, wearing a hat, following along on the score.

Hey - just looked at aol online at our local news and I'm included in today's news about Flower Piano 2016!!
Scroll down a ways to see the dancer dance the faun part of Afternoon of a Faun while I play for him.
It was so much fun, and so spontaneous, too - we met at the piano featured just under this video, the triple-stacked grand piano that Mauro created - the middle works, and the top and bottom ones are full of plants! Everyone jams in it, and that's where I met the dancer and asked if he'd like to dance it.
Our top radio/TV station just happened to be walking along the path when we were waiting for the dancer, and they decided they wanted to film this - no rehearsal, just happening - shows the collaborative spirit of Flower Piano!
