Can you believe it is August already? Where has the summer gone?
Tell us about your movement this week? Are you in physical therapy, gardening and harvesting the fruits of your labors, vacuuming, shopping?
Anything counts as we encourage each other to exercise!
Have a great week!

I watch our church service on YouTube.
Did a load of laundry.
Watered my marigolds.
Talked to my mom and then my brother.
I took down three of bird feeders, took them apart and cleaned them very well. Have been reading about some birds having neurological problems and ornithologists are unsure of the cause.
Once I put them back together I think I will wait for the fall migration to put these back up. I still have a suet feeder, thistle feeder, and hummingbird feeder out.
Off to read and then watch the Olympics again.

Hiker thanks for getting us started this first week of August!
Missed yesterday because after taking apart my bookshelf I developed a horrible headache. I have a neck injury that will rear it's ugly head from time to time but this one was bad!
Took 2 pain pills and muscle relaxers by halves throughout the day. My Mom put little magnet bandaids along the area of my neck that spasms.
I'm better today but might have to buy a neck traction device. I had traction therapy in the early 80's and it helped the original injury.
Better today so am making a squash/cornbread dressing, brussel sprouts (tempura green beans for Josh), fried ham slices and a small cucumber salad. Ice cream for dessert.
Hiker I need to clean my hummingbird feeders. I noticed something that looks like mold on the sides. I hope that's not what it is.
TuTu I bet it does take all year for project OCC! You've figured when to go shopping for great discounts too!
Manna be careful of those yellow jackets. When I lived in the country I was getting stung by something that made a nest in the ground. Took me 2 years of getting stung while mowing to find the nest.
Going to watch the Olympics tonight. Hope I didn't miss anything Saturday.

Ouch, AK!! I hope the pain lets up very soon!!!
hiker .. That's sad about the birds!
We went to church and a fellow musician came over after church service to bring my husband some money for shows he played for him over the past few weeks.
That put us at a late start to go eat. We have SO MANY tourists right now. I told him we probably won't get to eat out after church until January. LOL!
We tried two places and it was too busy so we went home. We also have the problem of understaffing at most places .. restaurants, rides, shows, everything.
Guess we will save money this way!

I went to physical therapy for my back. Therapist released me so I will do the exercises three times per week at home. Hurrah!
Did my knee exercises.
Talked to mom. Will head there tomorrow to see her.
Went to chiropractor. Now taking it easy to hold manipulation.
At some point need to go to recycling as my bin is overflowing and take garbage to curb.

Started my day trimming the bushes out front and picked up rocks in the lawn. I was out there about an hour and was wiped out from the heat even though I finished by 11:00.
Took a shower, made brunch and ran some errands. Met Josh at the body shop where he dropped off his car and he's borrowing mine until his car is repaired.
Glued to the TV since 8:00 watching the Olympics.
Hiker I took our garbage out and am still waiting for the city to deliver our recycle bin. It's been over a month since I called requesting one. It's your Mom's BDay tomorrow isn't it? Hope you two have a wonderful time!
TuTu I'm feeling better today but am definitely ordering the neck traction device. Is the summer tourist season in your neck of the woods? How frustrating not to be able to go out and eat because of the crowds.
Back to the Olympics!

AK .. the tourist season began at Spring Break in March and has not let up. It's usually slower during summer, but it has truly been hot and heavy.
The fall is the busiest. Oh joy!!

This morning I did my back exercises.
Then I cut my asters down to half their height. The landscaper agreed they were too tall and straggly and he said they would still bloom if I cut them now.
Soaped and rinsed out the big garbage can, but it is still attracting flies.
Drove over to my mom's. While she was yakking on the phone with a friend, I did my balance exercises.
Have been doing odds and ends jobs for her. Already been down to the recycling room several times.
Since I am not allowed in the dining room we are having tray dinner in the apartment tonight. I offered to go pick up Mexican, but she thought it would be easier just to eat the retirement center food. Not sure what will appear on my tray. LOL
Then I plan to watch the Olympics. She will probably read. So, a quiet evening. Heading home tomorrow but back next week when my brother comes.

Today discovered the hamper full of dirty clothes didn't come downstairs to get washed yesterday. So washed those clothes and hung them out.
Watered the last flowers that weren't planted in the ground yet.
Picked enough tomatoes to cook a kettle full of v8 juice. When the children came home from work they wondered what smells so good! It was still cooking.
Hubby mowed the yard this afternoon until he mowed into a branch. It didn't hurt the mower but after it gets too hot and you shut the blades off it won't restart until it cools. So he came in and took a nap!
Brought all the wash in that I had on the line from yesterday.
Took the vegetable scraps out to the chickens. The young chicken haven't learned to come running when they see someone coming towards their pen carrying a container. But they will! All those yummy things to eat!

Bought breakfast for me and Mom then I was off to pay bills for Mom. Came back around 12:00 to pick up Mom then out to Ft. Benning to the PX to shop around and pay a bill out there and pick up her meds.
Dropped Mom off then I went to the health food store for a couple of things. Picked up potassium for my Mom because she hasn't been feeling well, no energy and muscle cramps. 3 months ago her potassium was low so I'm hoping it's an easy fix.
Then off to the library. Picked up a couple of foreign films and a Robert Redford movie and a Dame Judy Dench one. Hope we enjoy them. Also picked up a book titled Japanese Stone Gardens.
TuTu I bet traffic there can get crazy with all the tourists!
Hiker I wonder if I should trim back my lonely hydrangea? Hope you enjoy time with your Mom. I'm just finishing up with the Olympics myself.
Manna can't help but smile thinking about those chickens running. I'd be running too where food is concerned. LOL!
See everyone tomorrow!

My V8 juice was really nice and thick from all the plum tomatoes I had in it. So I added some herbs and turned it into spaghetti sauce! Canned 4 quarts and had the leftover 3/4 quart in our Zucchini beef casserole for supper. YUMMY!! Son brought fresh peaches home from work, so I sliced some for dessert. Double yummy!
Started planting some hostas in the new flower bed late afternoon when a sudden thunderstorm came up. Even had a bit of hail. Nothing major. But the thunderstorm was right overhead and the poor dog was scared. She managed to knock in the screen in the back door and in the house she came! We let her stay in during the storm.
Gabbed with my sis -in -law a couple times today.
Folded towels and wash cloths & put them away. Still have 3 or 4 more baskets of wash to fold.
Did a little sewing this afternoon.
Still need to get bills paid and ready for tomorrows mail.
Happy Birthday to your mom, Hiker!
Enjoy the fresh produce - summer time is such a good eating time!

Made brunch for me and Mom, chicken salad sandwiches and lentil soup. Took Mom to her dentist's appointment to have her dentures relined. Have to go back tomorrow and straight from there to pick up her new hearing aid.
Hoping to squeeze in some time to work on my bookshelf. Need to fill in nail holes and repair stripped out holes where the screw went. Also will sand and probably stain it. Hope it comes out OK.
I'm with you Hiker in watching the Olympics! I'm glued to the TV again. Happy 94th to your dear Mom! I know she was thrilled that you were able to be there with her on her special day.
Manna you can never have to much spaghetti sauce! Your poor doggie sounds like Josh's dog. She's terrified of loud noises like thunder and fireworks.
Back to the Olympics!

I ended up going to the nurse practitioner at my doctor's today since I haven't felt great still. Ran a lot of blood tests including mono, urine test, strep test, thyroid etc.
Most tests have already been uploaded into my medical portal already and they are normal. Waiting on B12 and Vitamin D3. Very thorough. They even ran another covid test, but I have to wait on those results.
Did my balance exercises and back exercises.
Been yakking with a good friend this afternoon.
More Olympics tonight.

Oh my gosh! What didn't I do today? Went to the hardware store this morning to pick up some screws and wood filler for my bookshelf project.
Came home and made brunch for me and Mom then took her to another dental appointment for them to work on her dentures.
And from there it was off to pick up her new hearing aid.
Ran to Walmart and finally came home.
Of course no time to rest so cleaned the inside of Mom's car, vacuumed and washed it. Tried scrubbing the tar off the bottom of her car and I didn't make hardly any headway. Got to find something for the stubborn tar stains.
Also hung up the retractable clothesline.
Whew!
Hiker I hate to hear that you're still not feeling well! I sure hope they can find out what's going on.
Still watching the Olympics and hope I can make it until they're finished for the evening.
See you all tomorrow!

Baking day... got started late... woke up with a start at 8:00. Usually wake up an hour before.
Picked the beans this evening since it was raining last night. Some are a little older than I like them. Guess I'll french those. They will wait till tomorrow though.
Hubby has been working on the 4wheelers with sonny's help. They took them apart to the bare frame and are fixing everything and painting them. They'll look good till they are done with them.

I got my haircut this morning, then went to PT. Went by the phone place for some help and then to Kohl's to return a shirt.
My hip got aggravated yesterday so it's still painful. Hope I can do some amount of exercise tomorrow.
Gabbed on the phone with my cousin (It's her birthday!) and with my brother.
So .. watching the Olympics. It's been dull watching tonight, for the most part.
I have Bible study tomorrow.
Nite, nite!

I do not feel well at all today. Splitting headache and fever again. And yesterday when nurse asked if I had a headache (ruling out sinus infection) I did not have a headache.
So far all but urine test is normal. The second urine test showed a red blood cell, so they will culture it for 1-2 days. I have no symptoms of a UTI but I know they can be sneaky.
But nurse wrote a long comment on medical portal saying she was not concerned about blood in urine and thought probably viral sinus infection. Also waiting on final strep test.
I did manage to do my knee exercises.
I filled the car with gas and went to the library.
Called mom and took a nap.
Just relaxing the rest of the day. Too tired to go outside and water, so hoping the cloudy day produces some rain.

Hi everyone! Did one load of laundry before meeting a friend for lunch. She lives in CO and I haven't had a chance to visit with her since we both lived in Athens GA in the late 80's. She was a student at the University of GA and I was an employee there.
We had a blast catching up and are going to be meeting in the mornings for walking and maybe biking near the river downtown. Also she's an avid kickboxer and is going to train me a bit. Sounds so exciting but I sure hope I don't injury anything. LOL!
Manna I'd like to fix up my little 2006 Scion XA. It has almost 150,000 miles on it but a mechanic told me recently that it can easily get 200-300,000 miles on the engine. It needs some body work, paint and new weather stripping. Might be one of my many projects! LOL!
TuTu I recently got a hair cut for $14! I got the senior discount and even though it's super short I'm pleased with it. Definitely cooler for the summer. Hoping I don't do myself in with the exercise and kickboxing! I'll probably lock up my SI joints! LOL!
Hiker I'm really starting to worry about you! Have you ever tried NasalCrom? I use that when I have sinus pain and stuffiness. Maybe a warm wet washcloth placed over your eyes might help too. Hang in there!
See everyone tomorrow!

Hiker, I hope you soon start feeling better, getting a little worried about you over here too.
My second moon flower bud is opening this evening!
Did washing today and hung it out. Had my lines full. Had to bring table cloths in so I could put the last load out.
Beans is the other project for today. We didn't get them finished yet.
I found another yellow jacket nest in the bank out by the road. We'll spray it this evening when they've all gone to bed. The nice thing is this one is easy to see and right at face level.
Hubby found another one yesterday when he was mowing and got stung twice on his little finger. Decided I will ask God to show us the yellow jacket nests before we get stung. So that was an answered prayer when I saw the one in the bank.

AK .. How long will your friend stay? Sounds like fun!!
Hiker .. you better get well soon or one of us will come kick your butt!
Manna .. so glad you found the nest! Go get 'em!
I went to exercise today and managed to a moderate amount even though my hip is still bothering me. Did a little grocery shopping too.
Need to stock up on more basics tomorrow at WM. (UGH) Will probably go to church too so I can empty out my trunk! It's full of OCC stuff.
When I got groceries, I had to put them in the back seat!
I think I forgot to tell you about all that shopping I did. I believe it was Wednesday. Hit two stores and bought tons of school supplies.
I'll be so happy once it's all in our back room.
Our Pastor's 50th ordination is this Sunday, so it will be a special day.

AK--So glad you can see your friend. Has she moved to your city? Kickboxing sounds fun! But personally I couldn't physically manage it.
Manna--My aunt in Idaho was complaining about yellow jackets. They are in her AC and her AC died. Needs to kill them before the AC can be repaired.
Tutu--You have been busy. Way to go on the exercise!
I am feeling much better today, although still a slight afternoon fever. All of my other symptoms are gone. And all of my lab tests came back normal.
I like the new MD and there is always a nurse on call 24 hours a day, so you can call and ask questions about lab results etc. (no fee). I called last night to ask a question and the nurse went over everything with me and asked about all of my symptoms. I was very impressed.
I think the homeopathic solution that the functional chiropractor suggested I take is making me feel toxic and that has made everything worse, so I stopped taking that yesterday. I expect to be back to my normal self soon.
I did my balance exercises and back exercises.
Did a load of laundry.
Watered a few plants outside but didn't drag the hose around. Am hoping it rains in the next day or two.
Baked salmon for lunch.
Spent quite a bit of time working on Bible study even though it doesn't start until September. The lessons are really long and involved.
Talked to mom and my brother. I will see them both next week Hurrah!
