I'm new here and trying to find my way to info on changing my username, which some very helpful member pointed out is way too long and causing some reading difficulties for others. Any help, like a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Once you create an ID, you can't change it.
My suggestion would be to simply create a new one and start using it instead of the old one.
Forgot to add that you might want to mention in your first few posts under the new ID that you are the same person, and state your old ID. This way you'll save someone the trouble of greeting you as a "newbie" twice.
