Thought it would be nice to have a new recipe thread. Since I don't like mushy oatmeal, I came up with this quick recipe I like better.

Enjoy, and add your favorite recipe to the thread for any meal or snack!

Oatmeal ~ Per person

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 apple cut up( or banana, peach, or other favorite fruit)
some chopped walnuts or pecans

Bring water to a boil in small saucepan over meium heat. Stir in oats and cook 3 minutes. Add fruit and nuts, top with milk if you wish, and enjoy!

The old-fashioned, longer cooking (rolled) oats are better for us than mushy oatmeal, anyway. Steel-cut (or Irish) oats, too. They take longer to digest, therefore, not causing a drop in blood sugar as the instant oats can do.

Cinnamon, and just a little CARDAMOM or a dash of nutmeg are very nice in oats. Gives it a Moroccan flair. Vanilla, of course, is my fav. Always add vanilla at the end.
