Ellen - following is the e-mail reply I received from Tinton Falls re. political signs:

They are permitted in all zones as an ACCESSORY Use;
1 No more than One (1) election sign may be erected and
maintained on a property supporting or making a statement concerning a
local, county, State or Federal Election.
2 The sign shall not exceed twelve (12) square feet in size.
3 No sign shall be erected more than twenty-one (21) days prior
to the election and no sign shall remain more than seven (7) days after
said election.
4 No election sign shall be erected within a sight triangle as
defined in the Land Use Regulations.
5 No election signs shall be erected on publicly owned property
or publicly owned right-of -way and shall be located at least fifteen
(15) feet from a curb line.

These Regulations are found in The Borough of Tinton Falls Land
Use-Zoning Ordinances. Under Signs 40-77Q (b) Election signs[1] thru
[5]

I hope this answers your questions.
