"For the Sake of the Song": An Artists' Remembrance of Townes Van Zandt (update!)

We are GO for Godfrey's!

On January 1st, 2009, the twelfth anniversary of Townes' passing (and his hero's: Hank Williams)

we will feature "For the Sake of the Song", a musical event remembering the Songwriter's Songwriter.

From 7 pm to midnight, we'll have at least a dozen performers doing Townes right on the same stage where the man himself stood.....

Wait until you hear what we have planned! NO, ACTUALLY YOU'LL HAVE TO BE THERE!!!!

Here's our all-star lineup:

JOE THOMPSON, JOE CASSADY AND WEST END SOUND, JAMES SCOTT BULLARD AND REGINA,

COSMIC AMERICAN DERELICTS, JACK MURRAY, JOSH LANGSTON, JO HENLEY, BRIAN MOLNAR,

MICHAEL PATRICK, BILLY ELI, GIRLS GUNS AND GLORY, NICK BEAUDOING (from the Doc Marshalls),

and ---- always a Godfrey's favorite: JOEY MUTIS III!

Tickets will be available for $20.50 each --- and remember, it's New Year's Day for a special event!

The artists have agreed that in lieu of payment, the majority of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the organization that saved my life: Lyme Disease Network.

So TVZ lovers ---- bring your cowboy boots to stand on people's coffee tables with,

and be sure to shout "PLAY THE WABASH CANNONBALL!" at the artists as often as possible.

Godfrey Daniels (7 East Fourth Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015-1601 (610) 867-2390; www.godfreydaniels.org)

is THE place dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the finest in folk music and performing arts.

"Godfrey Daniels exists to create and nurture the appreciation of traditional and contemporary folk music and performing arts by providing an

intimate environment where professional artists, amateur performers and audience members will be enriched by the unique experience of live performance."
