I just received an email tonight from HealthFreedomUSA.org saying that the FDA is trying to illegally limit nutrient and supplement use again.
Supposedly the latest attempt is to try to ban interstate shipment of nutrients and supplements if there have been any studies on them (huh? - sounds nuts to me).
The site said that the DSHEA (Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act of 1994) is supposed to protect nutrients and supplements and that this latest FDA draft regulation attempt is illegal.
They said we should flood the FDA with our comments saying that we expect the DSHEA to be upheld and want no attacks on the interstate shipment of nutrients and supplements. And to do so up through Novemer 25.

I just got the email again today from this organization. They seem to think this is a serious threat to our access to nutrients and supplements, with a comment deadline of Nov 25. Please take a look at the site here and see what you think.
I'm surprised it hasn't had more press if it's really this bad. Maybe I'll call my nat'l rep offices tomorrow and ask them.

Ok - I found out today that this email is about the FDA attempting to draft a regulation, which is illegal under the DSHEA (Dietary Supplements Health Education Act of 1994).
The deadline to sign the petition and make comments they say is November 25, which is tomorrow.
The bigger issue, I think, is that we're going to be facing a Codex fight in 2009, in which international law will try to supercede our national laws protecting our nutrition, supplements, etc. Not good.
For this reason, I suggest that everyone go the www.healthfreedomusa.org, click on Take Action, and sign up for the mailing alerts.
The site is also a good one to read through and there are videos you can watch.
I believe this is an urgent issue, since most of us on here take supplements, and we want to be able to continue doing so, don't we?

This is absolutely true. The FDA has long been a shill for Big Pharma, essentially controlled by them. This process has greatly accelerated in the last few years. Supps are competition.
Codex has already been implemented in parts of Europe. They need a rx from a Doctor to get vitamin c, etc.
FDA is trying to "harmonize" our laws with there's. It's blatantly illegal here for them to do so but it doesn't stop them from trying. The last attempt by the FDA to "criminalize" supplements was stopped in it's tracks during their "public response" period.
Health Freedom is attempting to do this now as well. Over 600,000 people responded on Health Freedom's website alone last time. Need to do it again.
