The new goal is to have 80 cosponsors on the Lyme bill (HR 1179) by the end of July!

We have 69 cosponsors right now.

If we continue to call our legislators, I think we CAN do it!

Here is the website with each states contact information and sample blurbs.

http://www.cwork.com/

Just click on your state to see the handy dandy contact list.

Let's get 'er done!

[Big Grin]

Here are the current cosponsors.

If you want to update the list as we get more on there, please do!

fyi, a suggestion i used recently:

i called the 2 house reps from iowa who HAVE signed on as co-sponsors, and asked them both to email our other 3 house reps and ENCOURAGE them to join as co-sponsors!

they may listen more to another house rep from that state than the actual constituents, us! who knows; won't hurt to try?

thx for update on no. of reps signed on tincup.

Hey tri...

Nice to see you here.

The cosponsor list is for the federal bills.

One federal bill is HR-1179 (House) and the other is S-1352 (Senate).

The Governor would be involved in a state concern, not a federal bill.

And the Senator you mention may also be at the state level... which is different.

It is confusing to start with... but if I could "get it" eventually, most everyone can.

Is there a Lyme bill being pushed in SC right now?

I'm sorry I can't keep up with them all.

If you'd like to help with the federal bill....

It would be VERY helpful.

Just go to the LDA legislative site and click on SC... you can find the people you need to contact.

Actually, here is SC's site for you.

http://www.cwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=86&Itemid=95

Please call and ask both of the Senators to cosponsor the Lyme disease bill, S-1352.

It only takes a minute... unless you want to tell them your story.

Then find your House Member in Congress by going to this site:

http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

And call him/her and ask that they sign-on to cosponsor the Lyme Disease Bill, HR-1179

Looks like no one from SC has signed on yet.. but Bob Inglis was a cosponsor last session... so if that is your representative, remind them they were on it last session.

It would be great if you could work on them till you get one to sign on!

REALLY great.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

Hi Tincup--According the list at cwork and the list at Congress, California only has 10 co-sponsors, not 11, alas.

But we can change that!

tricycle,

use this info also when contacting SC federal senators ...

lyme statistics from CDC site
*************************************

1980 - Jan. 2008 ...all 50 states broken down by years! ***************************************************

last 2 yrs. are NOT accurate; more cases but are not shown in final totals!!

http://www.lyme.org/resources/1980-cumulative.htm

Betty note: I tried printing out the chart, but it goes SIDEWAYS, and tried printing in pages 1, 2, 3; it kept printing page 1 only! So just a warning if others try to do this; use your PRINT REVIEW FIRST which I did, and indicated DIFFERENT pages, but still got page 1 only! I gave up after 8 tries! uffda [Smile]
