This was posted in general forum by gridmonster, and I am helping to spread it around so more people will see it.

Dr. Kerry Clark is an associate professor with the Dept. of Public Health Epidemiology / Environmental Unit, Dept. of Public Health
The University of North Florida
44567 St. Johns Bluff Road, South Jacksonville, FL 32224-2673

His email is: [email protected]

(He gave me permission to post it on our site. )

He wants to really hear from Florida lyme patients. He will DNA check your blood, but you

must ship it to him. His unit's lab WILL NOT draw blood. I believe he will smear and check southern ticks as well.

Dr. Clark is trying increase FL lyme awareness and is collecting data. (He's on our side)

Will Dr. Clark test the blood of people that are from other states?

Emla - please post the reply, so if it is restricted to FL, he will not get swamped with messages from people in other states. I doubt if he wants to provide a free service to lyme patients who want a PCR. The goal is probably to document the extent of the disease in FL, so it gets more attention.

I emailed Dr. Clark yesterday and I got a reply from him today.

In Dr.Clark's reply to me he said that he had been testing blood samples from human patients all over the country, and that he was getting a lot of positives for Lyme Disease with his PCR test.

He said that the blood samples have to be submitted by a medical doctor who suspects Lyme disease as the cause of the patient's illness. And that the samples can come from patients all over the country. So, it doesn't matter if you live in Florida or not.

Dr. Clark said that he would test a person's blood if their doctor suspected that they had Lyme Disease, and if the doctor was interested in submitting a blood sample, he would email the necessary forms to their doctor.

Dr. Clark also said that he had been swamped with emails from people that were asking if he could test their blood and that he was not really hurting for blood samples right now, and that he didn't really wish to have any more of his stuff posted on the internet.

So, Dr. Clark said yes he would test the blood from people that live outside of the state of Florida. But your medical doctor must contact Dr. Clark first to get the necessary forms.

***Based on some of things that Dr.Clark said in his email I got the feeling that Dr. Clark was being swamped with blood test requests and that he really doesn't want or need any new test requests.

And I sure can't blame him for that because one person can only do so much.
