Not only have you been subjected to IDSA Lyme guidelines that were developed during a process that was found to be "riddled" with conflicts of interest... while they were sucking up big $$$...
You NOW are being KICKED in the head AGAIN by the IDSA as they try to WORM their way out of trouble. They are not following the rules concerning the IDSA Panel Review process!!!

The IDSA is trying to manipulate the vote on the guidelines recommendations in violation of the antitrust settlement agreement with the Attorney General. Full documents on this are downloadable below the blog post.
Read the letter from the Attorney General to the IDSA and internal IDSA communications proving that they well understood the terms of the settlement agreement.
LYMEPOLICYWONK: IDSA Violates Settlement Agreement Voting Procedures 03 Feb
During an antitrust investigation of the IDSA guidelines development process for the 2006 Lyme disease treatment guidelines, AG Blumenthal's office uncovered significant procedural deficiencies, including conflicts of interests of the panel members. A settlement was reached, and the IDSA is breaching it. The IDSA is manipulating the voting process to favor no change in the guidelines. The AG has sent the IDSA a letter requesting that they redo the vote in compliance with the agreement.

I am so glad that Blumenthal is on top of it, and not letting the IDSA get away with this.

Well, the past president and current president of the IDSA told us they weren't going to change the guidelines. In spite of that, we were all hoping that the panel, handpicked to produce a no change result, would be honest. Talk about believing in Santa Claus. All I can say is that if this represents the whole of the medical establishment, we are in a terrible situation. Who can believe anything that the professional societies, the NIH and CDC say when this kind of thing is allowed to go on.
Will the outcome be different if they have two votes instead of one? This is so blatant, so corrupt. They obviously think that medical societies can get away with murder.

Good luck on Wednesday td!!!! Let us know the results.
Lou, I agree. Sneaky snakes they are!!! Having to babysit them should not be an issue. They are suppose to be PROFESSIONALS!!!
I am STILL angry at Exxon for the oil spill and their handing of it... and how many years ago was that?
This is even more disgusting!!!
If the IDSA had ANY smarts they would dump the Worm and his wormetts and clean up their society before it all goes down the tubes.
But then it is probably too late for that. I hear they have ordered life jackets in a last ditch effort to save their collective butts... cause they know their ship is sinking.
I think some of the rest of the IDSA membership does not agree with the guidelines writers. It would be great for those in the IDSA who know this disease is chronic and needs to be treated, to be freed up to do so.

You are right. I see some of them FINALLY jumping ship to help people.. and I know they are risking a lot when they do. But I am happy they have a mind of their own and they seem to actually CARE!
I figure SOME of the IDSA doctors must have become doctors to actually try to help people? I have to believe that is so... although it is a rare one, it appears.
Wouldn't it be nice for those who have figured out the IDSA is a bunch of hooey to get together and write a letter to the new Prez of the IDSA and give him the what-for?
And you know, since "hot-pants" quit as IDSA President, I haven't come up for a good name for the new one. I'm gonna have to work on that... but if you have suggestion, go for it!

So....is Blumenthal really going to make them stick to the rules? I haven't heard anything. And..if they stick to the rules, will the rules be in our favor?
Feeling my regular bout of hopelessness. Had a bad week last week with drug induced lupus bringing me to my knees.
