The originator of the petition, Eric, used to be on lymenet and he was an active advocate for change.

I liked it. Good Job. Change.org is doing a good job of advertising and helping get causes out there.

Yes, we need to inform our legislators, but this letter is so full of unsubstantiated generalitis, inaccuracies and just plain untruths that it is an embarrassment. Not only that, but it is poorly written with a number of mispellings. Signing it automatically sends copies to all your federal and state reps. Form letters, especially ones so poorly researched and written, accomplish nothing and can set back the cause. Not how I'd like to be seen. I'd avoid this one like the plague. If you want to inform your legislator, your best bet is to tell your own story, and include some materials from reliable groups such as LDA, Calda, SE PA LDA, or ILADS to support the idea that this is not just you. If your state has a support/activist group, work with them in whatever way you can. But I really really hope you avoid this so-called petition. It will do much harm, and very little if any good.

Oh my Gosh. The idea of an initiative like this is a good one, but................

This letter is strewn with grammatical and informational errors. It makes the lyme community look like a bunch of dummkofs.

I wouldn't send this. It needs re-working.

Mary
