"The ability of the borrelia, especially tick-borne strains to persist in the brain and in the eye after treatment with arsenic or with penicillin or even after apparent cure is well known (1). The persistence of treponemes after treatment of syphilis is a major area which currently requires additional study (3,5,10,11). -Jay Sanford, US Military Hospital, BethesdaArm

Did anyone see that Mrs Bush had surgery on her neck for a pinched nerve? She got it while hiking in Zion National Park. After trying physical therapy with no help she opted for surgery a few weeks ago.
I'm sure she's getting great medical care but I do have to wonder is she has any other symptoms that could be due to Lyme. Isn't a stiff neck one of the big symptoms? I'm not saying she doesn't have a pinched nerve but ????

Munch,
I think I would doubt surgery were needed if someone just had a stiff neck due to an infection.
I mean, what would they cut on?
She probably slipped a disk, or pulled or tore a ligament, thus the need for surgery.
It also could be that they are covering up what she really did have....
I mean it's not like they never did that before!
I'm somewhat puzzled by why this info was posted. I mean I'm glad, don't get me wrong. Everyone should know about this....I mean they have even found spirochetes in the brains of people that die of dimentia.
I was just wondering why this post....now...and exactly how does it go right over to the President?

Don't be so sure about not getting surgery she doesn't need. Happens all the time. My little friend in NM had a lot of neuro symptoms... cardiac symtoms.... myalgia symtoms... They found a pituitary tumor... which normally is just left alone. They did surgery.
Neuro symptoms did not go away of course. I talked to her about Lyme last year and she got a WB.... Positive of course. But now she has some nicely scarred brain tissue for spirochetes to hang out in.
