Hi -- this is an idea I had, to type up a letter that could be handed out and posted. This is just my example. You could do your own. Any feedback about it welcome.

An Open Letter To The Public

You may or may not be aware yet, but Lyme disease and coinfections are spreading globally, nationally, statewide, and locally. Usually they occur from being bitten by infected ticks, which can be found on vegetation and animals. There are also reports of transmission through other insect bites, as well as through human transmission.

You may or may not have initial symptoms, like a bull's eye rash or flu-like symptoms. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection and it inflames nerves and soft tissue, causing symptoms throughout the body. Coinfections(babesia, bartonella and ehrlichia) can also cause fever, chills, sweats, etc.

However, there is currently a tragic refusal on the part of the IDSA(Infectious Diseases Society of America) and other medical groups to recognize and adequately test for and treat these diseases, thus condemning you, the public, to years of disability and sometimes death.

The IDSA 2006 guidelines, the Oct '07 New England Journal of Medicine article and the Oct 4 '07 Washington Post article all deny these illnesses and their chronic nature if not found and treated in time. At the end of the NEJM article is a list of authors' conflicts of interest. Many of the authors receive insurance payments for consultation and expert witness testimony. There are also patent and grant considerations as well.

The IDSA and their 2006 Lyme/coinfection guidelines are currently being investigated by the Connecticut attorney general for exclusionary practices in formulating the 2006 guidelines.

The one medical organization that the public should be consulting for medical care regarding Lyme and coinfections is ILADS(International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society). They are the only medical organization that does recognize, adequately test for and treat these diseases.

You are greatly encouraged to learn more about these spreading diseases and how to protect yourself and your pets. For further info, support and referrals:

www.lymediseaseassociation.org, www.ILADS.org, www.IGeneX.com, (IGeneX is an excellent testing lab; Western blot tests are more specific than the ELISA test), www.lymenet.org (discussion, support, info)

coinfections are spreading throughout locally, in California, and the other 49 states in USA,, and the world".

about this paragraph:

The IDSA and their 2006 Lyme/coinfection guidelines are currently being investigated by the Connecticut attorney general for possible violation of anti-trust business practices -- ie, the right of doctors to treat patients as they need to be treated.

I think the anti-trust violations means that they have other interests financially to influence their decision for treatment guidelines, such as they hold stock in vaccines or patents for new tests. I don't think it has anything to do with the right of other doctors to treat.
