Shes been on ketek as long as me its been about1.5 months no problems till now. We have both been eating low carb and our intake of mostly cahews and some peanuts mostly cashews I think its the nuts but she also has a yeast infection shes been snealing sugar this all started after that.
I have takin her off ketek for time being and upt her acidophilis intake to about 6 to 8 a day yeast seems to be baking off now also ordered diflucan for yeast.Pick up today. This all started around friday when yeast started too.
This rash or hives is pretty much all over her under breasts on belly inner thighs inner arms from arm pit to hands. I have been putting benydryl cream on it since saturday night it helps but rashes are stubborn.

Tree, does the rash look like small bumps all over or is it raised patches? Hives tend to be in raised clusters.
I would worry about a reaction possibly. Did she take any oral benedryl? pattiecake

Peanuts and cashews both are known to carry mold. I would cut those from your diet. Peanits are a no-no on an anti-yeast diet. Also, almonds are a much better low carb choice IMHO.
I love cashews and peanuts also, but I really try to stay away.
Just my thoughts, robi

The oatmeal baths and Benydryl helped me the most. I had raised welts and hives though, so it may not be the same.
I've gotten those little red itchy bumps before too. I treated it the same. I'm not sure what caused them. Either way it's very uncomfortable.
Hope it clears up soon!!

my sister found this information. Im gonna try it later..
If you have trouble with itchy skin, a soak in a baking soda bath will take care of that.
Mix a half cup of baking soda into a full tub of warm water and relax in it. Itches and rashes will
fade away in this bath, but if you have a localized and/or more extreme itch, make a paste
of baking soda and water and apply. Cover it to keep it from drying out and reapply as needed.

Hi I got this on Ketek about 4 weeks in, Dr B thinks it was a serum sickness reaction in my case...a big herx due to the amount of Lyme being killed.
The hives started on my sore hip then spread all over and were large and itchy, they kept appearing even after stopping and I felt awful like I had the flu, was wiped out and very white.
So it can be a herx...Ketek is stronger than any other macrolide so if your wife can tolerate them and has hives on Ketek it is probably a herx.
It is right to stop I think and consult your LLMD about when/if to restart.
Also I got a yeast infection on it too, I cna usually get away with the odd sugar binge but not on this stuff, it was almost instant!

if the benadryl doesn't help, i would call the doctor since there is probably some prescription better for skin allergies.
hope she feels better soon.

I had HUGE hives when doing IV Clafran once. Had RX salve to put on and it didnt help much.
The "MOST" helpful thing I found was the baking soda thing. A paste of that and the most itchy of them shut up for quite awhile.
Darn clothes keep rubbing it off tho!!! But reapply as needed, cant believe you can overdose on 'baking soda poltice'
Those things are nothing to sneeze at. Does she take any nystatin?? I took that all thru abx and didnt have any yeast I knew about!!
Hope things improve and stay that way for you and yours!!! from --just don-- ,,,oops I dodged the hammer today!!!

Thees are typically very moist areas on a woman's body. Do you think it may be a yeast rash? If so, you might try Clotrimazole cream. It helps me with my yeast rash areas.
Hope it resolves soon for her, Karen

I had a rash that looked very similar -- full body.
This was in my days when I was sick but still undiagnosed. My GP put me on a huge dose of steroids.
I was also told to take oatmeal baths and remmeber them helping. I'm very susceptible to rashes, and they're always hard for me to deal with.
Hope she starts getting past this quickly.

This is SOOOOOOOOOO hard to tell. You dont have a LLMD? I had a similar looking rash but much fainter and smaller little red things...it was a HERX, not allergy. The body was trying to rid of toxins thru the skin...only thing that helped was the epsom salts baths and peroxide.
Benedryl didnt help.
When I have had allergic hives benedryl helps immidiately.
What is her History of hives, rashes, etc--has she ever taken benedryl or allegra or anything for hives or rash?
Has it worked before?
B/c if it worked before, it should work now.
Rash is nothing to play with though.....
Serious bussiness that a LLMD should see.
speedy relief to you both! Trails

Tree, I had several bouts with a nasty itchy rash like that. It turned out to be a reaction we think to medications. I also had to be put on steroids as the rash was taking on a life of its own.
Even though I had stopped the meds the rash was nasty and the steroids really helped within hours.
I don't regret taking them as the rash was aweful and I even felt short of breath at the time of the rash and it scared me.
Im still battling itchy bumps that ALMOST go away but not entirely. I did have bumps like the photos tho over large quantities of my body. It was a nightmare.
I sympathize entirely. good luck and keep us posted. pattiecake

I have hives on my arms and trunk. Little itchy raised bumpy splotches.
I am also right in the middle of trying to figure out what to do.
I saw a dermatologist who I had already seen recently for skin damage from sun (probably magnified by the antibiotics) He wanted to give my a steroid cream but I didn't like him much and I am going to see someone else.
I also have a yeast problem. I am working on this. I stopped taking antibiotics til it is better.
I use bentonite clay on my hives and it is soothing. Doesn't make it go away.
I stopped taking cats claw. It really made me herx. I suspect it is the trigger for the hives. Toxin's being released. I just recently started taking it and then I got the hives.
Just a note. I had hives when I was a kid. I wonder if there is a relationship. Maybe predisposition.

I made a paste out of it by adding a little water to powder, room tempature water. Nothing more to it really. I bought it a while ago at whole foods. It was kinda of expensive at whole food so I am using it sparingly.
good luck tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.
Wifes rash looked to me better last night the raised bumps are receding she said she felt like she had a hard time breathing and I felt her pulse it was strong. But her lips swelled a little?
Iam talking to her this morning from work trying to figure it out.
By the way she didnt take any of the {steroids} precribed to her its a rock and a hard place.
Take them and get rid of the rashes and set the lyme free and whatever else she has.
She gets excited pretty easy.

Tree, it sounds more and more like a reaction to the meds to me. Like mine short of breath. Good thing you stopped the meds.
Hope she continues to improve! pattiecake
