Got my IGENEX lyme test backindeterminate Help? 03/29/07 02:03 PM

I got my test results for lyme 03/29/07 01:36 PM

Ok, of course nothing is ever cut and dry, is it? My tests came back overall negative, however, there were two bands that were indeterminate. Also, I cannot tell about the stars, but here it is:

IGM Results:

22kDa. -
**23-25 kDa. -
28 kDa. -
30 kDa. -
**31 kDa. IND
**34 kDa. -
**39 kDa. - IND
**41 kDa. -
45 kDa. -
58 kDa. -
66 kDa. -
73 kDa. -
**83-93 kDa. -

That's it. I didn't get the IGG results because when the FFC faxed them to me, I didn't get the last page, but I know that it is an overall negative.

Would this be considered lyme??? Thanks to any input.

If your symptoms and history indicated lyme and other maladies were ruled out, most LLMD's would treat based on these results.

You have equivocal results on two extremely suspicious bands.

An antibiotic challenge would likely turn these positive. (Being on abx a short time then stopping and retesting.)

Remember that an "IND" band is not a negative band. That means there is at least a very weak antibody response. There are many reasons why this could be so. Sometimes the sickest people whose immune systems are beaten produce the least antibodies.

If you don't have an LLMD, please find one and get his/her opinion. Nothing is more important for your health, since a duck (non-LLMD) will usually dismiss anything but a CDC positive (and sometimes even THEN!).

Good luck!

Michele

Thank you Michelle! I can't seem to find a lyme doctor in my area. Hershey, PA. The doctors around here only seem to treat if it is CDC positive!!!

I have been treated at the FFC in Phili and am waiting for an appt with him. I'm thinking that because I have been on doxycycline (400 mg per day) since Sept 06 that maybe this skewed the test a bit. I did, however, go off of the antibiotics for 10 days, but perhaps they were still in my system. I am taking this for clamydia pnemoniae (1:1024). I also have EBV, HHV6 (very minimal), and mycoplasma. I'm also taking anti-virals since June 06 and other supps.

I feel very strongly that I have lyme and maybe I am already being treated for it......

I would agree with Michelle, but feel you need to make sure you are seeing an LLMD. (Lyme literate MD)

Suggest you go to Seeking A Doctor forum...see upper left...and ask for referrals to an LLMD in your area.

Be sure and make your email available so people can respond. We don't post doctors' names online!

Good Luck! My WB was negative, but I was started on antibiotics for lyme. Another WB a year later show all the specific lyme bands lit up like a Christmas tree!
