I'm full of questions these days, but here's another one for the Mepron buddies...
Last time I did Mepron I had no problems with GI issues. This time around, my luck is not so good. (Last time I had a gall bladder - wonder if that makes any difference?)
Lots of nausea, big scary rumbling sounds, cramping, and diarrhea (sorry, maybe TMI).
Is this common?
Any tips or tricks for alleviating this?
Muchas gracias, Cactus

I do hope you feel better and can you eat some fresh pineapple when you have to take the stuff? Pineapple helps me digest things better and if I can not get it fresh a quarter of a cup of organic pineapple or pineapple coconut juice will help my stomach.
Are you taking enough magnesium?
Mepron is best just used as a toe nail polish or it is good for dying clothes in. Mixed with dye from lavender plants you can do some good tie-dye colors that all your friends will ask you where you got them from. Tell them Jerry Channeled it from above.

Vanilla, my GSK spa buddy! I don't think I'll recommend the Mepron curry anymore...
Thanks for the suggestions! Pineapple - yum. And it's yellow, too, my favorite.
I will try that, and take some extra magnesium. I haven't been taking as much magnesium lately, so hopefully that will help.
I've gone from the Mepron blues to the Mepron rumblies...

Diarrhea with Mepron is common. If you look at the percentages listed in the product literature you will find that it is a common side affect. I've got that and rumbles. My massage therapist calls it my symphony, as my gut gets pretty loud and unruly during massage.

Sorry you do! Have you tried Saccharomyces Boulardii>?

Are you on anything else with the Mepron? Are you on Zithromax and any other antibiotics? Could be c.difficile, and you need 3 stool tests in a row to test for toxins A& B plus a culture. Florastor (s.boulardii should be taken for everyone on antibiotics, in addition to probiotics daily)

Thanks, everyone.
Yes, WildCondor, I'm also on zith & omnicef right now.
I'm not on s. boulardii - can I order it online? I do take Theralac probiotics.
If this worsens over the weekend, I'll call my LLMD about it on Monday...

One at night just before bed along with an Udo's Super 8 (30 billion CFUs) usually is enough for me.
When I get rumbly I take an extra Udo's in the mid-afternoon for a few days and that has done the job for me.
BTW, I've been on Mepron for 2 months along with zith and art. Just added Bactrim in yesterday, so we'll see what that does to my GI.
Also, are you taking your Mepron with fats to help absorption? I take a tsp of flax oil and then follow with the Mepron before a meal.
HTH!

Thanks, Penn - I will order this tonight.
Think I'm going to switch to flax seed oil for my Mepron fat... I've been careful about getting enough fat, but switching to something healthier would feel good.

Make sure you get a mild flax oil like Spectrum 8%. Barlean's is raunchy stuff.
I hope the boulardii is helpful.
