I had sinus surgery years ago and I still have problems. Since starting treatment for Lyme and co. it seems to be getting worse.

My doctor then gave me 'Ponaris' nasal emollient to use.

I need to know if anyone here has used it and if the ingredients are ok to use with abx and supplements.

Here's the ingredients:

Oils of Pine

Eucalyptus

Peppermint

Cajeput

and Cottonseed as specially prepared iodized organic oils.

Total Iodine 0.5%-0.7%. Assimilable hence non-lipoid potential.

I have also used a saline flush but that was in Italy and I cant find the same type of bottle here stateside. Nettie pot is a real pain for me.

Any input would be very helpful

I don't know anything about that combo.

One thing that helps me with sinus is to bounce on my rebounder.

This morning I awoke with severe tooth pain in my left molars. I never have this and couldn't imagine what was causing it. First I oil pulled which helped a little. Then I realized my sinuses were clogged. I know this can cause tooth pain.

So I jumped on my rebounder for 20 mins. Whalla! Toothpain gone. Sinuses still slightly congested, but nowhere near as bad.

My sinus problems had healed long ago. I had a tonsilectomy 3 weeks ago and since then my sinuses have been gradually increasing in congestion.

Darn it!!!

hi Proudmom,

i buy a large bottle of walmart saline nasal spray and gently pull off the spout and pull the tube off the spout, then push the spout back in.

Tip the head back and allow the liquid to flow, not squeezing the bottle, into the sinuses. I use this for moisture all the time, due to Sojgrens.{sp}

Maybe doing something like this might be better for you than the neti pot?

My ENT said I can use the plain saline rinse for contact lenses too. If its safe enough for the eyes it can go in the nose.{ This I use when I am really blocked badly, over the sink.} Its already in a squirt type bottle.

Hope this helps.

While I was going through treatment, I went through bad bouts of sinus issues. They would come and go so was hard to know what was really going on.

In any case, I tried a Netti Pot that had been talked about on Oparah by Dr. Oz.

I am NOT saying it is right for everyone, but in my case, it did give me some relief.

Good luck to you. It's a miserable feeling.

Cathy

I truly think that maybe the Lyme or other bacteria have been camping out in my sinuses for a very long time.

My pcp had diagnosed me with a cronic bacterial sinus infection about 1 1/2 years ago. He actually treated for a month but it didn't do any good.

I really like the nasal flushing, it works great for me. The pharmacies in Italy had nasal flush kits for babies and adults.

The nettie pot is ok but the bottles I used to buy were pressureized and it really got up there in the back.

I will try your idea DakotasMom01 sounds like it might work.

The Ponaris I use is an emollient that keeps the sinus cavity lubed basically.

I was mainly concerned about the ingredients and if there may be any conflicts with abx.

Carol, Haven't ever heard of that, I definately will look at it.

Thank you again everyone [kiss]

You won't believe this, ok maybe you would. I was looking at the links you all provided and stumbled on Water Pic. They make a 'doo dad' that attaches to their system for sinus flushing.

I know salt is a great anti-bacterial and thats probably why I get such good results with flushing. I am hardly able to squeeze my hands and the pain in my elbows is awful right now so squeezing a bottle is very difficult.

Betty I used to see an allergist too, you may get good results from flushing, asuming you haven't already tried it. All the other sprays I've tried made my symptoms worse, mostly the heart 'flutters'.

By the way, if you use purified water you shouldn't need the baking soda. It helps bring the PH down so that it won't burn your nose.

Last night I used what I had left of my saline nasal spray and the 'Ponaris', no bad side effects yet. Not much releif yet though, ears and back of my eyes are now involved.

Hugs to everyone, [group hug] , proudmom
