This was posted about in the activisim forum but many may have read and never went back to view this. You really need to.

Here is the website to the clip, put Letterman and lyme in search and the clip will come up.
www.youtube.com

Thanks to mjwallin for the link!

He states TBI's are over diagnosed in the NE and that in the rocky mountain west area, RMSF is nearly impossible to get. One in a million chance is what he said the odds were to contract this TBI.

Oh really????

Now he did state that if you get LD it will drive you nuts......yes, and because of his statements like that it will futher keep diagnoses and treatment to a minimum.

As I posted before I lived in Maryland pretty far from the rockies last time I checked.....a tick I pulled of my husband tested positive for RMSF from MDL.

One in a million chance I had...

This man needs letters and lots of them, not to mention a boycott of his show.

Who are the major sponsors of this show? A letter to them stating you are boycotting their produts as well.

I couldn't see the video on the site you named.

This is the one where he had the phony researcher who ran screaming when he thought he had one of the "sample" ticks on his arm, right?

Lots of us did write the Letterman Show and CBS about this. Lots thought the show was just using its usual humor. Saying what he did about ticks being no big deal and then having the frantic researcher, emphasized how scary ticks really are.

I didn't get a reply - did anyone else?

Hi Ann,

I just went to the site and typed in letterman (space) lyme and the clip poped up, make sure you have video as selected format.

I know I read previous posts about this being his scarasm but many did not see this clip in the begining of the skit which he states how overdiagnosed TBI's are.

As for the fact in RMSF he eluded it is found mainly in the Rocky Mt. west area.

I was not nearly as disturbed about this until I saw the clip.

Please check it out again.

No I never got a reply either.

Hi Stella-

I'm one in a million too! I was most likely infected in Harford County, Md or Chester COunty, Pa.! I was positive on the first try with Quest.

My llmd, here in Pa had 70 poisitive RMSF since last Aug as of June 12 when I saw im last.

Maybe all the "one in a millions" are concentrated here in the East.

I couldn't possible have gotten it in CA or Az because the relatives emphatically state they have no ticks!

given both the life-style-induced, arterial tree-bark he laid down, and the by-pass, in about 5 yr. he should have a face like w.c.fields leaning up against a philidelphia street lamppost after a bad night.
to avoid an electrolytic imbalance the next time he vomits, he should clench his teeth, and just strain the solid parts of the vomitus through the space between the two front teeth, and swallow the rest. save on the parenteral lytes.

after seeing this show, my friend from borneo called to tell me that he went down to the dock were the orangutan was doing his laundry, shaved its ****-caked *** , and painted it white.

I am really appalled after seeing the video clip.

No wonder the GP has no concern at all about lyme disease. We so don't need Letterman passing along to millions of american more false information about this disease!

gerrrrrrrrr! This really steams me!

He should be made accountable for his reckless actions!

I just watched that clip and am appalled!!! After I write this, Letterman will get a full letter from me with test results, stats, etc. What an *** !!! This is just the reason that we are where we are today. Uninformed asses in the media with an audience and misinformation.
