I've been reading, reading, reading since I've returned here. Keep reading that almost everyone has been on various combos of meds for months and months or years...I know LLMD usually dont except insurance and it would seem that the cost of meds are even greated than office visits. How do you all afford the cost of meds??

You can buy meds from Canadian pharmacy, RXNorth.com and save about $75%. They list every med they carry. The US Govt. is no longer putting an embargo on meds bought from Canada or Britain if they are for 3 months or less and for personal use.

You can try NeedyMeds.com which list all the drug companies and their programs to give away meds to people. You need a prescription and each company has their own "needs" test.

You can ask for samples from doctors every time you see one. I do this and it has helped.

Also, make sure your doctor prescribes generic meds if available....will save lots of money.

Hope this helps! Janet

We can't afford them quite honestly.

But then again what are the alternatives if you're a middle-income wage earner??

Right now our out-of-pocket outlay for med's for 2006 exceeds $20,000.

Not many vacations or nights out for dinner.

You do what you have to do !!!

Do you have insurance? I apply for waivers thru

the MSA dept to receive PPO benefit coverage for

non participating providers. Including IGeneX I

get reimbursed at 100% and on Dr Jones they pay

90% of the allowable. I have credit cards that are

only for medical expenses then as soon as the ck

comes they are paid on. As far as prescriptions

they should be covered whether your Dr accepts ins

or not. If you need supplements that can be com-

pounded ins may reimburse for those as well. We

have had very good luck with that. Also check out

your out of pocket expenses. Usually when you

reach a certain $ amount coverage will kick in at

a higher level. Please feel free to contact me if

you have more questions or if this isn't clear.

Good luck. Lyme x 9

My insurance pays for the meds. So far no trouble.

LadyLee,
Yes, you will need a prescription for meds from RXNorth.com. You can copy prescription and upload to send to them or you can fax them.

You need to call them ahead of time to let them know you will be sending a script. They will tell you the cost of the medication (which should already be on their website) and they will assign you an order number.

Most of their drugs come from Canada but some come from England. The meds I have received are in the drug companies' bottles. You should not worry about quality control.

When you look up drugs at their website you should note how each drug is distributed. Most of them are sold for 100 pills/tabs. You can ask your doctor to prescribe a med for 1 month supply with two refills or for whatever amount of time that would equal 100.

The amount and price changes. Some of my meds have gotten cheaper. The drugs usually arrive within 2 weeks. I had one drug coming from England take 4 weeks to get to me.

However, RXNorth.com is now using a different distributor/shipper and it is much faster.

Hope this helps. BTW, they also have very cheap non-prescription drugs. There is no shipping cost so you can order over-the-counter meds at a real discount.

Good luck,
Janet
