according to the posted schedule,it should be an hour into the rally.
given advances in technology, i wondered if this is covered by media, either live, or perhaps will there be archival video, or photographs of the rally?
what connecticut media companys, internet, tv, radio, including internet radio stations , newspapers will be broadcasting this over the air waves, the WWW, or perhaps doing this live on their websites?
any lyme activists doing this by video, or audio, and if so, DO NOT post their name(s)here today, tommorow,or BEFORE its published on teh web(physical security/safety reasons for the activist), but rather pm me.

I was wondering the same thing -- why there was not a Webcam.
Just not sure anyone thought of this -- seemed to me like the Rally was planned in a big hurry although very well organized and a lot accomplished in a short period of time.
Hoping all is going well and that there was a very large turnout.

I called one of our fellow Lymenetters who said FOX News was there....I just checked Fox News online (as I'm not in the area) but there is no mention of the rally, yet anyway.

if this wasn't done by an activist, there are future rallys to consider.
the proficient use of digital video, loading it up on computer, and playing it on a website is relatively new to the average person, not to mention a significant cost to get the software, and hardware to do this.
there is also the consideration for privacy of those who do not want their faces published on the WWW, television, and so on.

Anyone hear how many people were there or any details?
There's been nothing on any of the news stations, as far as I can see.

I got back about an hour ago. I would say as far as rally's go, attendance was pretty good. A guesstimate would be 200 people. I've been to a Presidential Rally with that many people - so they did good.
I've been to other rally's and the only two that were bigger were for AIDS back in the day, and the Roe vs, Wade March on Washington.
I especially liked hearing from the Attorney General, Richard Blumenthal who spoke very honestly about purposeful under reporting in Connecticut.
Also being a Lyme mom I enjoyed listening to Sandy B. a social worker in private practice working with children and families. She is a patient of Dr. B's and told an encouraging story of a fifteen year old who was so sick, and then went on to succeed and attend graduate school.
I'd say the organizers deserve an ovation, and should be very proud. There were film crew's there but I saw no call letters on any camera's. I know I'm in a few shots. Plenty of people taking pictures.
There was a tent length table selling tee's that said Thank You Dr. Jones For Caring, and I bought a children's book titled; Lyme Disease Is No Fun, Lets Get Well published by the LDA, and the Lyme Times Children's Treatment Issue, and Children's Education Issue. $2.50 from each going to Dr. Jones' legal defense.
I had a sweet young lady give me a green awareness ribbon on arrival, I bought a It's Tick Time button, and a Lyme bracelet. I also thought it wonderful that bottled water was made available at no cost.
I saw Break the Chains and his map on his back. I was standing behind him reading his sign by the back of the tent. I saw Hatsnscarfs sign about being bitten on 7/4 and all the symptoms that came with it.
Hatsnscarfs were you sitting in the front row with a lyme green boa like thing in your hair? I thought that was neat. Oh, and I almost forgot there even was a green tick like creature roaming around.
I also thought the green hands with all the children's name on them was effective visually. And I liked seeing quite a few posters on the Capitol steps.
I think it was a good day. Thank you to the organizers, and all the speakers.

Magic,
thanks so much for your account of the rally; I'm heartened to hear there were about 200 people in attendance.
You mentioned AIDS rallies in previous years. It took quite awhile for those to have the numbers that got national press attention. By the mid-1980s, thousands were in the streets, and finally, finally, the mainstream media picked up the story. I was part of that media then and was able to see how the story finally gained traction.
Kudos to all who attended the rally today -- and to the organizers AND the presenters. Hopefully, this will be the first of many!
Thanks again for the report.

Thanks for the laugh Shaz. Yes, I had a new, large, VERY BRIGHT lyme green scarf and a large hat with a green ribbon. Another clue was a name tag "Hats Boston" on the front of my hat. I should have put it on the back. Sorry I didn't get to meet more of you who were sitting behind me. I was sitting on the floor during the speakers and was probably hidden.
Well, those are my rally clothes and I'm planning to be at many more. I hope to meet you at the huge Boston Rally I'm going to help DJP organize I'll make all my friends & neighbors come to that one so we'll have a huge crowd. hats
