Thought for the day....... "The ability to see yourself as a temporary expression of intention and to see yourself in all of humanity is a characteristic of the holy relationship. It's the ability to celebrate and honor in all others, the place where we're all one. ...establish a holy relationship with your Source, the world community, your neighbors, acquaintances, family, the animal kingdom, our planet, and yourself." Wayne Dyer

Thought for the day....... "What is it that caused your great-grandmother on her meeting with your great-grandfather to recognize him as her future mate and the future father of her children? You can call it a mystery, but it is a mystery that does not imply doubt. We can presume she felt something definite. She felt affinity." Robert Aitken (1734-1802)

From my daughter's (really sick with LD/cos for 3 years) college essay:

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

My daughter goes on to say: "This quote has inspired me greatly. I believe that experiences people go through make them who they are. Live life to the fullest and enjoy every minute of it. Even when life gets you down you have to find the good in it and always think positively. I am always optimistic and I never give up. You can’t fear the future you just have to live day by day and embrace each experience."

And that's just the beginning. She's gone through so much and is still going through hell. Yet, she can still embrace the positive and look to the future. I am so incredibly proud of her.

God bless our children. They're the ones who will change everything in the years to come.

Thought for the day....... "It's the heart afraid of dying, that never learns to dance; It's the dream afraid of waking, that never takes the chance; It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give; And the soul afraid of dying, that never learns to live." Bette Midler

Thought for the day....... "As you identify less and less with the 'me', you will be more at ease with everybody and with everything. Do you know why? Because you are no longer afraid of being hurt or not liked. You no longer desire to impress anyone. Can you imagine the relief when you don't have to impress anybody anymore? Oh, what a relief. Happiness at last!" Anthony de Mello

Thought for the day....... "Mindfulness is a habit, it's something the more one does, the more likely one is to be in that mode with less and less effort.....it's a skill that can be learned. It's accessing something we already have. Mindfulness isn't difficult. What's difficult is to remember to be mindful." John Teasdale

Slight variation today, in Medical Questions, in the thread about Pam Weintraub's article about Dr Jones' history and the difficult politics he's had to deal with -

Sizzled: Printing this out and leaving it here where the cretins in Connecticut, going after Dr Jones, can see:

"There are none so blind as those who will not see...."

Hi Lightfoot - thx for printing these day after day -

Thought for the day....... "So, mindfulness will not conflict with any beliefs or traditions – religious or for that matter scientific – nor is it trying to sell you anything, especially not a new belief system or ideology. It is simply a practical way to be more in touch with the fullness of your being through a systematic process of self-observation, self-inquiry, and mindful action. There is nothing cold, analytical, or unfeeling about it. The overall tenor of mindfulness is gentle, appreciative, and nurturing. Another way to think of it would be 'heartfulness'.” Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are

Thought for the day....... "Don’t ponder: You don’t need to figure everything out. Discursive thinking won’t free you from the trap. In meditation, the mind is purified naturally by mindfulness, by wordless bare attention. Habitual deliberation is not necessary to eliminate those things that are keeping you in bondage. All that is necessary is a clear, non-conceptual perception of what they are and how they work. That alone is sufficient to dissolve them. Concepts and reasoning just get in the way. Don’t think. See." Henepola Gunaratana, Mindfulness in Plain English

Thought for the day....... "Try reminding yourself from time to time: 'This is it'. See if there is anything at all that it cannot be applied to. Thought for the day....... "It is like this....If you start really paying attention to your own thought process, you'll notice that the thoughts themselves don't go on continuously.....Most of us habitually fill these spaces with more thoughts as fast as we can....Try to look at the natural spaces between your thoughts. Learn what it feels like to stop generating more and more stuff for your brain to chew on. Now see if you can do that for longer and longer periods. A couple of seconds is fine. Voila!" Thought for the day....... “When the mind ceases its busy activity, all good and noble qualities blossom. There is peace and purity of heart. . . . In stillness, only infinite consciousness shines.” The Yoga Vasishtha

Thought for the day....... "One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes. In the long run, we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And, the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility." Eleanor Roosevelt

Thought for the day....... "It was previously a question of finding out whether or not life had to have a meaning to be lived. It now becomes clear, on the contrary, that it will be lived all the better if it has no meaning." Albert Camus (1913 - 1960)

Thought for the day....... “When I speak of the gifted listener, I am thinking of the nonmusician primarily, of the listener who intends to retain his amateur status. It is the thought of just such a listener that excites the composer in me.” Aaron Copland

Thought for the day....... “If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating, as possibility!" Soren Kierkegaard

Here's a short poem I saw recently that I find comforting:

A swallow
flies in and out of
the jailhouse.

Thought for the day....... "We cannot tell what may happen to us in the strange medley of life. But we can decide what happens in us -- how we can take it, what we do with it -- and that is what really counts in the end. How to take the raw stuff of life and make it a thing of worth and beauty -- that is the test of living." Joseph Fort Newton

Thought for the day....... "The path of least resistance and least trouble is a mental rut already made. It requires troublesome work to undertake the alternation of old beliefs. Self-conceit often regards it as a sign of weakness to admit that a belief to which we have once committed ourselves is wrong. We get so identified with an idea that it is literally a pet notion and we rise to its defense and stop our eyes and ears to anything different." John Dewey
