The Carpenter's Glasses
God does nothing by "accident". We need to thank Him and praise Him for everything. Even if we never know about it, he could be using our "troubles" for some other purpose.
My Mother's father worked as a carpenter. On this particular day, he was building some crates for the clothes his church was sending to orphanages in China.
On his way home, he reached into his shirt pocket to find his glasses, but they were gone. When he mentally replayed his earlier actions, he realized what had happened; the glasses had slipped out of his pocket unnoticed and fallen into one of the crates, which he had nailed shut. His brand new glasses were heading for China!
The Great Depression was at its height and Grandpa had six children. He had spent $20 for those glasses that very morning. He was upset by the thought of having to buy another pair. "It's not fair," he told God as he drove home in frustration. "I've been very faithful in giving of my time and money to your work, and now this!"
Months later, the director of the orphanage was on furlough in the United States. He wanted to visit all the churches that supported him in China, so he came to speak one Sunday at my grandfather's small church in Chicago.
The missionary began by thanking the people for their faithfulness in supporting the orphanage.
"But most of all," he said, "I must thank you for the glasses you sent last year. You see, the Communists had just swept through the orphanage, destroying everything, including my glasses. I was desperate. Even if I had the money, there was simply no way of replacing those glasses.
Along with not being able to see well, I experienced headaches every day, so my coworkers and I were much in prayer about this. Then your crates arrived. When my staff removed the covers, they found a pair of glasses lying on top.
The missionary paused long enough to let his words sink in. Then, still gripped with the wonder of it all, he continued: "Folks, when I tried on the glasses, it was as though they had been custom made just for me! I want to thank you for being a part of that."
The people listened, happy for the miraculous glasses. But the missionary surely must have confused their church with another, they thought. There were no glasses on their list of items to be sent overseas.
But sitting quietly in the back, with tears streaming down his face, an ordinary carpenter realized the Master Carpenter had used him in an extraordinary way.
There are times we want to blame God instead of thanking him! I have to remember this in these times of trial with my own family. May GOD bless your week. Look for the perfect mistakes.
"People are like tea bags- - you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are." Now "isn't" it just like God to do something like that????

I'll be happy when...
We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another.
Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are.
After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.
We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire.
The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.
It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with..... and remember that time waits for no one.
So, stop waiting Until your car or home is paid off. Until you get a new car or home. Until your kids leave the house. Until you go back to school. Until you finish school. Until you lose 10 lbs. Until you gain 10 lbs. Until you get married. Until you get a divorce. Until you have kids. Until you retire. Until summer.. Until spring. Until winter. Until fall. Until you die.
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one's watching,
If you want to brighten someone's day, pass this on to someone special. I just did!
I am going to be happy today---want to join me?

Thought for the day....... "Practice wonder today - be present, begin again, know nothing, and allow everything to surprise you, inspire you, excite you, entertain you, teach you. Be fully open to life, today, and let yourself live wonder-fully." Robert Holden (From 'Hello Happiness')

THE PATHWAY OF PAIN (Author Unknown)
If my days were untroubled And my heart always light Would I seek that fair land Where there is no night?
If I never grew weary With the weight of my load Would I search for God's peace At the end of the road?
If I never knew sickness And never felt pain Would I reach for a hand To help and sustain?
If I walked not with sorrow And lived without loss Would my soul seek sweet solace At the foot of the cross?
If all I desired was mine Day by day Would I kneel before God And earnestly pray?
If God allowed no "WINTER" To freeze me with fear Would I yearn for the warmth Of "SPRING" every year?
I ask myself this And the answer is plain. If my life were all pleasure And I never knew pain -
I'd seek God less often And need Him much less For God's sought more often In times of distress.
And no one knows God Or sees Him as plain As those who have met Him On "THE PATHWAY OF PAIN."

Thought for the day....... "The lesson which life repeats and constantly enforces is "look under foot." You are always nearer the divine and true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are. Do not despise your own place and hour. Every place is under the stars, every place is the center of the world." John Burroughs
