I want to cry. I have been feeling so good I really did forget what it was like to feel bad.
I've had a few problems like bloating (probably from yeast) and I also had some neuro effects but that was from Biaxin that I only took for 3 days.
I am only on 200mg of Doxy and I also take a Glutathione shot once a week.
The only thing I did different yesterday is that I decided to take one extra Doxy (100mg) pill because I keep reading 200 isn't enough.
I cannot get my doc to call me back (they are moving their office) so I just decided to up it on my own.
I also had my weekly shot yesterday.
Shortly after that I was suddenly very tired (I have been going like the energizer bunny)
Last night it was like my symptoms all came back.
I HAD been having this aching chest pain and all last night it was there again. Also one of my very consistent symptoms was waking up in the morning flu like....headache, achy, horrible feeling...cannot get out of bed.
It happened again today! I am extremely fatigued and my chest is hurting.
When a herx occurs is it usually all your OLD symptoms flairing up or is it new symptoms? How long does it last?
Could this have been since I took some more Doxy...or maybe even the Glutatione shot was bad?
I am on day 17 of treatment....is there a certain time during a 6 week course that the herx occurs or is worse?
I am so depressed. I really thought I was getting better.

It sounds like a herx to me. You usually feel like you have the flu. You probably should stay at the doxy dose your doc put you on.
Frequently, lyme drs start you out on a lower dose and ramp up when you have been on it a while so your body doesn't get overwhelmed by the die off.
Usually the most intense herxes are on the fourth week of treatment.
I know this is hard, but you will get through this. There is no fast way to beat this disease. You need to think slow and steady.
It is important to have some detox programs that will work for you and it may be a trial and error process at first. Peroxide and epsom salt baths work for some. Coffee enamas, vitamin c, activated charcoal, and pectin are also detoxifiers.
I hope you feel better soon.

Drinking peroxide? Ugh. I am on lots of supplements...B complex, C, Olive Leaf, CoQ10, Probiotics etc.
My detox has mostly been exercise but it is hard to get to the gym every day since I work and have 3 kids. Thanks for the advice. All suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I hope you didn't think I meant for you to drink peroxide from my post. I meant bathe with it and epsom salt together.

I hoped you didn't mean to drink it. But no worries....I haven't done either.
Can anyone tell me how long a herx lasts? I'm incredibly depressed with this reaction. I mean I felt GREAT for 14 days and now it's like I am the same as I was before taking the doxy.

Sounds exactly like my herxes. Yuck! I'm sorry you're suffering with the same symptoms as I am. :-( I get horrible bloating, too, and I always want to cry when I'm herxing hard.
Try:
1. Sauna - lots of it (I wouldn't be able to be as well as I am without my sauna) 2. Exercise 3. Lots of lemons/limes with water 4. Coffee enemas (these really relieve symptoms for me with digestion, headache, pain, etc. Odd but true) 5. Liver support 6. Eat lightly with lots of veggies
In addition to those extremely helpful remedies, if you can, try to think positively - this herx is good, since you're getting over Lyme! You're on therapy, which is fabulous. It's the hardest thing not to focus on our own problems, but I feel a bit better when I think about other people and get my mind off how sick I am.
Let me know if you have more questions at all! I wish you the best of luck in this horribly hard herx.

Someone mentioned apple pectin. Where do you buy it and how much do you take? I've heard of it before for herxing, but was wondering how to take it?
Anyone?
Thanks, CherylSue
