Anyone else wake up with a racing and or pounding heart in the middle of the night?

The past few nights I have had this, and it's so bad it feels like I'm having a heart attack.

I may have some heart-type sx in the day (the daytime is usually more vision-related stuff), but this stuff at night is getting worse.

I restarted Rifampin 2 weeks ago; I really didn't have these issues before, even on Rifampin.

Just really frustrated with going backwards over the past month.

I do. Can't stand it. Doesn't happen every night and goes in spurts.

I think it's hormone/endocrine related, but no proof of anything wrong with testing I have done.

I don't have sleep apnea, at least proven to have it, but I wonder if Lymies are more prone to develop something like apnea.

I know that I have mild reflux, so maybe that plays a part in it also.

I've been feeling "off" all day today.

I took a dose of mangosteen this AM because my eyes were really whacked out when I woke up, and I started feeling just funny after that.

Then around 3pm I took another shot of mangosteen, and about a half hour later I got the heart palps/racing pulse, weakness on my left side and shortness of breath.

Still don't feel right, actually. I'm wondering if I kicked something up and I'm herxing.

I had this horrible problem over a year. It is slowly getting better since I started minocyclin. But I had to start on very low dose, as my bacterial load was to high.
Is Rifampin getting some bugs out from the bones?
I think it was bacteria. What time does it happen?
I am so sorry for you, this is such a bad
experience.

Used to happen to me with untreated sleep apnea. I don't have the problem now that I get treatment for it.

I needed a sleep study to determine if I had it. I've read it is not uncommon in lyme patients.

It can happen right as I'm falling asleep, or it can wake me up between 2 and 3am.

I've been wondering if something I'm taking is knocking bugs out of somewhere, between restarting Rifampin and taking mangosteen.

My left side is really weak again this morning, and I just feel off base.

Might want to look at the Organ Clock and see which organs are up and running in the 2-3 a.m. time period.

Might explain what is happening to you.

Need more Mg b/f bed? I dunno, just a thought. Taking it tends to help me with palpitations, but I don't know if it would do the same for your situation or not.

Edited to add: could your CNS be causing this? Are you taking any benzos (ativan, xanax, etc.) or nerve-protection protocols like methyl B-12 IM shots? Just a ponder.

Definitely no benzos--they throw me into panic attacks. No B-12 or anything either.

That seems to have settled down now. The only thing I'm dealing with now is vision issues.

Will it ever end?
