Most definitey! Sis had to resort to steroid shots IN her eyes to stop the damaging inflammation. At one point all she could see was the big "E" on a chart. She went to a uveitis specialist in Chicago.

The shots DID stop the damage although she has a LITTLE permanent damage in one eye.

She IS able to see well enought to drive now.

She was misdx'd and given steroids many years ago. So she was very concerned about using steroids in her eyes. They assurred her it had a local effect and was nec.

I highly recommend you try to get to a specialist.

Yes there is some lyme uveitis info. "out there". Start with www.pubmed.com and type in "lyme uveitis" in their search window.

Pubmed has abstracts (summaries) of med. research done around the world. Pay close attention to the title (ie., what are they looking for) and then the conclusion. You will get the gist of the research.

oh yeah, I have had a fair number of shots right in the eyeball. not a lot of fun but it sure does trump the "oh I hate it when that happens" routine with your friends!

Hi Beth,
I am dong Ok still on the ATBX. My Lyme tests are finally starting to come back negative after months fo ATBX therapy. Plans are to stay on the ATBX until March retest and if allis still negative possibly start to come of the ATBX. The uveitis has been in remisson for 16 months now and counting so plan is to come off the MTX in July. They are still calling Lyme uveitis very uncommon but finally believe that that is what caused my eye problems.
I had those nasty steriod injections to the eye as well. That was a big mistake that made my eye sx worse.
How are you doing?
Dee

Barb Peck has a lot of posts on uveitis. Do a search on her user name, bpeck, and I think you will find a ton of information.
