Hi All, My LLMD hs kept me on IV Roc for yet another month (since Dec 7) and has now added Ketek. Feedback please. I can't seem to get the search to work. Blessings, Marblenose

Right now, it's an excellent maintenance abx for me when combined with omnicef, and supposedly helps enhance mepron's effects.
When I first started on it, the herx went on for two weeks, and was a bad cold instead of the usual heavy flu symptoms. After I'd been on it for two months, it had reduced my symptoms to the point that whatever was left fell into clear co-infection categories. Although it can't cure my Lyme on its own, it is managing the symptoms to the point that I can consider a full-time job again, after five years.
It seems to have a significant edge over zithromax.

thanx liz, this is so scary I am having the worst time right now I hope the change to ketek helps. I am not managing my life very well and living alone does not help. I can't belive how long people can type for I can't think that clearly right now. Amazing... Blessings, Marblenose

My daughter, 13, started taking ketek yesterday. I am also very curious about it. Also, a little nervous since it is so new.... My older daughter had Lyme/babs/Ehrlichiosis, and seems to be doing great. (Notice I say "seems", since I always fear it is lingering in there somewhere). Now, to have my other daughter diagnosed, years later, is awful. Thank God for Dr. J.

Hi Again all, I'm bringing it up again because I am having a herx that is really scary. My knees are so weak it is difficult to walk. I started the Ketek on the 31st. Also 2 gm of IV Roc.The anxiety is back, exhaustion,pain, belly aches. I am still taking lots of acidopholus with bifidus, greens, oil of oregano, nystatin, difluccan two times a week. I am getting weaker and more discouraged. This weekend I have a conference going on in my office/workshop downstairs, separate from the house with healers from the top of the Andes in Peru. I am hoping their healing energy floats up to me. Actually they offered a healing today which I will accept. Please reply with ideas for handling the new symptoms and disappointments. Could this herx be a combination of the two abx? They are both very strong.
I don't know the story on intracelluar vs. cephalosporin, but you are taking two of the best. When I started ketek, I'd already been on omnicef, flagyl, and zith for a long time.
The story with herxes always seems to be: we pray for a big one, because it shows the abx are working, and then when we get it, it's totally unbearable. During my first minocycline herx, I couldn't walk for a week and a half. Sometimes, I'd be paralyzed, or sleep continuously all day and night. It's lucky I had enough money to order in food.
I have the same anxiety thing with every abx that penetrates the nervous system. Right now, I literally have to take small doses of rifampin. I can't go without it or the bartonella comes back, and I can't take the full dose because I'll write 400 Lymenet posts a day and won't finish school.
If you can, try and find an anti-inflammatory you feel comfortable with. I take Celebrex (and can't live without it), but some people say natural remedies work. Theanine is good, and Tincup once recommended bromelain, although I've never tried it.

Ketek and Rocephin are outrageously strong antibiotics. No wonder you are feeling the way you are!
I would definitely let your LLMD know what you're experiencing. It may be time to scale back slightly.
