hey. I'm starting to think that the 9 months of biaxin, well... just weren't doing it cause I'm not feeling much. I'm 18, good immunesystem, I should be able to fight this even though I've had it for 10-15 years, latent, and reccuring..IF THE GROUP OF BIAXINS ISN'T GOOD FROM THE RESPIRATORY GROUP OF MEDS- THEN MAYBE ANOTHER GROUP WILL BE BETTER? WHAT DO U GUYS RECOMEND? i'M SCARED TO DO iV!!! pENICILLIN iv ANY GOOD? wHAT'S ROCEPHIN, MAYBE IT WILL BE BETTER FOR ME?
pLEASE GIVE ME AN UPDATE OF WHAT WORKED/ DIDN'T WORK FOR YOU. I KNOW WE'RE ALL DIFFERENT BUT I WANTED TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE WHO FELT THE BIAXIN WASN'T DOING ENOUGH FOR THEM AND WHAT'S BETTER IN THAT CASE.
THANKS A LOT.

People have all different reactions to biaxin. It never did anything for me.

My situation has only responded to two approaches, done together: hit the Lyme with a drug combination, and treat the co-infections with the strongest possible drugs available.

Different people truly do need variations on treatment, as there is no one combination that works for everyone.

Right now, I'm experiencing significant improvement on the following antibiotics:

Lyme: omnicef, ketek, flagyl
Babesia: mepron 10ml/2x day, artemisinin, ketek

I also have bartonella, but cannot do three antibiotic protocols at the same time. When I do go after that, I'll take rifampin.

If you try the above abx protocol, be prepared for a severe herx.

Lyme isnt a one size fits all disease.

Different infected people are infected with different strains, we all have different body chemistry, differently abled immune systems, and we ALL have different coinfections.

Have you been tested for coinfections? Regardless of the outcome of testing,

( negative or not) the best LLMDS know that non response to abx, could mean a few things:
Its simply not the right abx,
It's penetrating the wrong area of the body: tissues v. blood
Its NOT penetrating the right areas of the body
Theres a coinfection
Etc.

It may not be that you have had this for so long that nothing is going to work. THere is probalby ( just my opinion) a whole gammut of other possible infectiosn that are being overlooked.

what about bartonella? Babesia? They can all be transferred from a tick bite, and they ALL need different treatment.

I had this disease for more than 42 yrs before being dxd and treated. I'm here to tell you that recovery CAN be accomplished!

I did not have any IV, but it did take over a year before I felt ANY better.

Make sure you are TREATED for babesiosis, as the tests for it are less than accurate. [BIG understatement]

Be patient and don't panic. Are you taking milk thistle or other things to keep your liver healthy? You may have toxic overload at this point.

biaxin has good success when used with plaquenil.

likewise when it is pulsed (meaning taking it 5 days a week) and flagyl on the weekends.

i've also heard many in Europe have had success using biaxin xl 1000mg a day with 300-500mg doxcycline a day.

If you feel you're not responding to 9 months of a treatment, what does your doctor say?

Just a thought, you may want to re-think if you have a "good immune system..."

I thought I had a good immune system too, because I rarely got colds/flu. But some people think that is not a good sign, and a sign that the immune system is so tied up with Lyme that it can't deal with other things that come up.

We would all like to think that we "should be able to fight this," but that doesn't help. We're dealing with a strange disease or diseases, possibly genetically engineered, along with countless other assaults to our immune system like environmental toxins and vaccine toxins.

I don't have any answers, maybe herbs or homeopathics (Taurox has been discussed here lately) to try to help the immune system.

WHAT I mean by good immune system is that my blood tests areall perfect and my ANA is outstanding. So according to docs, i can live till like a hundred..IT's not thta I'm not responding i don't think... I just have one herx after the other non stop!

Hi Lynne
You can plateau on antibiotics so have to change combinations. Are you consulting with a LLMD as perhaps co-infections could be preventing your recovery?

Penicillin should not be used on it's own without other antibiotics in combo to get all the Lyme forms.

IV or IM penicillin should be followed up with oral antibiotics until symptom free for months.

Dr B uses combinations such as IM Bicillin LA with pulsed Biaxin and Flagyl...you really need to be monitored by a knowledgeable LLMD and your co-infections treated also.

He said Ketek is good at killing Lyme but I have not tried it.

Hope this helps
