You may want to read the treatment guidelines at www.ilads.org.
Does it say that a bull's eye rash is diagnostic for lyme?
Does it recommend 6 weeks of doxycycline at 300-600 mg per day?
I have read that the rash will fade regardless of treatment.
Lupus and lyme share some symptoms, you may wish to explore this.

Your antibiotic treatment was not for long enough, and your dose was probably inadequate. If you were given Doxycycline, the dose has to be atleast 400 mg per day and taken for atleast 4 weeks, 6 is better. Did you save the tick and have it tested?
Make sure you are tested for all co-infections ASAP. You likely need more treatment and ASAP. Dont wait for a Rheumy, you need to get to a Lyme doctor, even a family doc right away and get more doxycycline, and take the correct doses.

Hey fellow Texan! Get proper treatment ASAP! That rash means you HAVE Lyme .. get enough doxy for at least 6 wks.

The doxy and any contact with sun and/or heat made my skin sooooo itchy, I was miserable. I got off doxy and the itchies went away immediately. This could possibly be an explanation for you but maybe not...just thought I would throw it out there for you to consider. Hang in there. Betsy

I'd just like to echo what has been said already --
Your Lupus diagnosis could possibly be incorrect. Lyme disease is often misdiagnosed as lupus. (I had a rheumy try to diagnose me with lupus).
You would be better off getting to a doctor who has experience diagnosing and treating Lyme disease and its associated infections.

If you would like the name of a local doc, you can e-mail me. We don't post doctor's info. on this site. I wouldn't recommend her for late stage lyme but she would be a lot more knowledgeable than a rheumie, for your position.
