Looked at newbie section and I think i'm poitive but wanted conformation. I'm very weak and my legs are hurting and walking is tough. This has been going on 7 months. here are the results

WESTERN BLOT

IgG means a past infection. A lot of people test positive on the IgG and Neg on the IgM and vice versa. I highly recommend IGNORING a rheumatologist and looking for a llmd...they are the only ones up to date with lyme and how to treat it!

That is probably much more positive than most which could mean a couple thing:
1) There are more bugs and you are reponding to them OR 2) Your immune system is just better at recognizing them and producing antibodies than the average person
In any event, treatment is definitely warranted. IgM and no IgG COULD mean the infection is recent. However, in Lyme, you see a cyclical nature with these. You may show IgG later, IgM even later, etc. It just seems to go in cycles which is not true of most other infectious processes.

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years. Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.
But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies. Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result.
Response to antibiotics is the same if either is positive, or both. Some antibodies against the borrelia are given more significance if they are IgG versus IgM, or vice versa."

I don't live anywhere near NY, but I would caution you to be SURE to find a Lyme friendly dr! I do have a list of LLMD's and don't see this one on it.
Be sure to find referrals from at least three happy satisfied customers before making an appointment with an LLMD. You don't want to be wasting ANY time here!
