I would be interested in feedback on my IGENEX test that I received last June. It seems as if I have an inordinate amount of "IND".

Below are my results - I'll leave out the negative results.

IGG

18 +
30 +
31 IND
34 IND
39 +
41 ++
45 IND
59 ++
66 IND
93 +

IGM

23-25 IND
28 IND
30 IND

34 IND
39 IND

It is my opinion if a test is IND it means there is enough activity to make it not NEG. There for I believe IND is not a neg but a positive. But with all that aside you tested positive on two CDC bands (which meets criteria for lyme diagnosis based on lab results) on both your IgG and your IgM.

The lyme bands considered byt he CDC are 23-25, 31, 34, 39, and 41. The CDC says if you have two of these showing up than you are positive. I hope you have a llmd,if not get one ASAP!

Below is interpretation of the bands and what they mean:

WESTERN BLOT

9 cross-reactive for Borrellia
12 specific for Bb
18 unknown
20 cross-reactive for Borrellia
21 unknown
22 specific for Bb, probably really the 23/25 band
23-25 outer surface protein C (OspC), specific for Bb
28 unknown
30 unknown; probably an outer surface protein; common in European and
one California strain
31 outer surface protein A (OspA), specific for Bb
34 outer surface protein B (OspB); specific for Bb
35 specific for Bb
37 specific for Bb
38 cross-reactive for Bb
39 is a major protein of Bb flagellin; specific for Bb
41 flagellin protein of all spirochetes; this is usually the first to appear after a Bb infection and is specific for all Borrellia
45 cross-reactive for all Borellia (sometimes people with Lyme who have this band positive also have the co-infection Ehrlichiosis)
50 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
55 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
57 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
58 unknown but may be a heat-shock Bb protein
60 cross reactive for all Borrellia
66 cross-reactive for all Borrelia, common in all bacteria
83 specific antigen for the Lyme bacterium, probably a cytoplasmic membrane
93 unknown, probably the same protein in band 83, just migrates differently in some patients

Good luck I hope this helps.........Peace!

aI hate to give you the bad news: you have Lyme Disease. 39 kDa is absolutely unique to borreliosis and it you did not have it, it would not be there. Same for 31. Get thee to an LLMD ASAP. TMP

I think antibiotics prior (within 90days from what I've read) to the testing can result in those indecisive bands.

Looks plenty positive to this layman!

Carol and Thomas answered it well.

You can also get it from the horse's mouth:

Likely many of the IND will turn to + with treatment as your immune response improves.

Thanks for the replies everyone - I have indeed seen an LLD although for the moment I have chosen not to take abx as I am assessing alternative approaches.

What I was trying to get a better understanding of was the IND bands and what it means in general to have so many of them.

Thanks for your replies - I always learn so much here.
