I have been on antibotics for 3 years. I've just received my 1st tests results from IGenex. Your interpretation would be helpful.

Thank You

Hi Farmerboy.

Western blots can be skewed by being on antibiotics when you test. You should be clear of antibiotics for a few weeks before testing.

Assuming you have symptoms compatible with lyme (and I reckon you do, since no one would take antibiotics for three years just for fun!), I think an LLMD would consider these bands meaningful...

While it's true the 41 band can be present in many people and isn't specific for lyme, it can also be from lyme, so I wouldn't discount it.

The 39 band is highly specific for borrelia burgdorferi.

The "IND" means they saw something -- not enough to say positive, but definitely NOT negative. Sometimes the very sickest people produce this response on western blot. Definitely do NOT take this to mean you're not infected.

Post us more of your story, please, and best of healing to you.

Michelle

Well, looks like you still have it. Read this....maybe several times.

Western Blot explanation:

When you read it, be aware that "equivocal" is the same thing as "IND"...indeterminate.
