just wanted to drop a line....my LLMD happens to think that igenex is too sensitive. Unsure how i feel about that...
Anyway, he tested my blood through Stonybrook and again just for kicks, through quest. Stonybrook came up positive and and quest of course neg for the 4th time!
He feels very confident in stonybrook.....anyone else have tests there??
warm wishes heidi

It's definitely better than QUEST! But not as good as Igenex. HOWEVER, you got the result you needed!

Yep...TUTU is right again...you win tex...
I tested negative early in my battle with stonybrook More recently I tested positive IGG and IGM...
I don't understand why your llmd prefers one over the other or any test at all....???

Stonybrook [a part of the State University of NY (SUNY) at Stonybrook, Long Island] is and has been one of the best labs for Lyme disease testing.
Their tick research group is also great.
Wish I could say the same for their Lyme disease clinic. :-(

My son pulled a positive out of Stonybrook as well. I think some doc's use them because insurance will cover it, where Igenex may not be covered.

I heard the lyme clinic at Stonybrook closed. Is this true?

I have had my blood sent to Stonybrook from VA, so you don't have to be from NY.
As for the Lyme Clinic, there was someone who posted in the Seeking a Doctor Forum recently about going there and being very disappointed.
I think a few people had already mentioned that there was no such thing as a LLMD at Stonybrook, bu this person was determined to go there. Then afterwards posted that the doc was NOT Lyme Literate.

One of the major labs used to send it out to Stonybrook.
Can't remember now if it was UniLab or Quest, or if Quest took over Unilab.
Anyway, the first WB ran on two of my sons ultimately went through Stonybrook via whatever lab is was as the major lab took Medicaid.
There was some reaction on a couple bands, but still not CDC positive.
Then the same son through IGeneX was packed with Indeterminates & positives.
Does Stonybrook list as many bands as IGeneX?

Stonybrook is a very, very conservative lab. If you tested positive there, you should feel confident that there is no doubt that you have lyme.

Hey guys!
Yeah...I finally feel 100% confident about Lyme. Not that I really was doubting before, but you know how hard this whole thing can be with all of the controversy playing on your mind!!
Anyway, I am not sure how to contact Stonybrook...My LLMD just happens to use them so he had all the paperwork and it was covered by my HMO!!
I would imagine that any doc could order the test though. Here is the link to the lab page:
