I've probably had Lyme for 15+ years. Was misdiagnosed with MS and took Avonex and steroids for 1+ years before a LLMD said it's definitely Lyme, not MS.

I'm on my 3rd week (4 days on/3 days off) of 12 weeks of IV Rocephin. I don't have any herxing (maybe slight nausea on some days and I do seem to feel a little better on the days I'm on it, but maybe it's wishful thinking).

Is it a bad sign if there's no herxing on antibiotics or is it just going to take a long time since I've had it so long and was probably making things worse with the other medicatons?

Kawai-I'm on the same regimen-4 days on Rocephin, 3 days off, and I have had the same concern-I feel better on the days I'm infusing. At first I seemed to crash on the 3 days off, but I think there is some holdover now, so I even feel better on the days off.

But I was taking oral Ceftin for like 8 months prior to IV. Add Doxy and I feel like I'm going to die.But I have wondered about a reverse Herx so to speak.

I think I'm headed in the right direction with Rocephin.

ps-meant to add- my WBC dropped lower than it ever has-2.9 and LLMD wondered if it was because of herxing-even though I felt better.

I have heard Rocephin is great for masking lyme symptoms but is not a great treater.... I hear alot of people relapse easiest with this drug from my LLMD and several lyme books.

I had a significant herx on IV rocephin on day 12 (I did 3 days on, 1 day off)....and again on day 27. That was my experience.

There are a lot of antibiotics you haven't tried yet, it sounds like. Rocephin might not be the best one for you. See if you can add tinidazole a few days a week and see if you don't herx like crazy on that.

I was on Tinidazole and 2 others prior to the Rocephin and had minor effects (left side of face was numb, feet were tingly).

He also has me on Art on the days I'm on Rocephine, but I'll ask him about adding Tinidazole again.

Thanks.
