what type of reaction I would have if I do in fact have babs.

I am not sure there really is a "babs herx."

I test neg for babs but from time to time think I have it.

If I do have it and take Art would it intensify babs symptoms?

thanks,
robi

If one is not testing positive for babs my one son's first llmd said that artemesinin can be a challenge test for babs. I forget the dosage she gave him but within a couple of days his painful myalgias in the legs and arms increased in intensity and the llmd used this response to then put him on a protocol for babs.

His brother - now on mepron/zith/omnicef for 7 months - says that on the weeks he is off art (3 weeks on/1 week off), he feels worse/noticing a difference.

The overlapping of symptoms complicates treatment, doesn't it? Lately I have been reading here so much about bart treatment. I really think our llmds are seeing that bart and babs have been
undertreated.

Do you have symptoms that could fit the profile of babs?

....Robi, I'm assuming you're just taking one 100 mg cap a day to start.

You need to report back here on day 4 or 5 at which time you'll have established an intimate rapport with the word OW! if indeed babs is much of a factor.

Hi-

I just started Artemisinin on Friday so I am glad you brought this up.

I too strongly suspect babs(hot flashes, night sweats, pink dots, shortness of breath, etc.) but never have had fatigue. The past two days I have had bouts of unbelievable fatigue that pass shortly, but I find strange. Also, my joint pain has worsened considerably since friday. Could this be an effect of the ARt?

I took 200 mg (2 pills) for two days, and today 3 pills/day, and in two days 5/day.

The nurse just said to take however I need to. But I would like more clarification. Should I take with or without meals? Spread out the pills or all at once?

Also, I am not on an antibx right now. Is it okay to take art alone?

Thanks!

Thanks for answering.

Yes, VAlymemom ................. confusing, yes!!!!!!!

My symptoms do indicate babs ........... sorta. Nothing real prominent. I have been more dizzy since I started rife .......... so I think the babs may be rearing up. (if I even have babs)

I am just so confused.

Here's the thing ........... I felt pain increase about an hour after I took the art. But ya know, I have pain increases with out doing anything. I don't feel anything is distinct.

I do sometimes sweat at night ........... its hot and well it could be menopause ........... yes the sheet are occasionally soaked.

Charlie,

I took 100mg .......... took one on the am, afternoon and will take one at bed.

My confusion brain fog is definitely escalating. And I am getting a headache. Fingers and toes tingling. Muscles aching!!!!!!!

So could this be a reaction so quickly? or would it really take 4 or 5 days.

Wish I could sort it out.

LZO, I am taking alone without other abx also........... i guess we do need to find out if it is ok to take alone.

Any info, thoughts, ideas appreciated

robi

It seemed to cause fogginess (more than usual, anyway) for a week. Afterwards, it retained the ability to instantly relieve babesia symptoms for short time periods.

I am being tested for it, and decided to try Artemsia (Dr. Zhang's) 400mg every other day, once a day, to start.

The first day, I got a headache, brainfog and fatigue.

Yesterday, I tried to do some yard work, but after 15 minutes, my muscles hurt like heck.

Today, I didn't take one, but my stomach has blown up like a balloon and I'm having breathing problems.

As I type this, I'm breaking out in a sweat and my head is hurtin'

I'm guessing this means I'm positive. I'll let the doc know what's going on.

Hi Robi

Thats a tough question. It seems like lyme, babs symptoms run differently in people.

I didn't get the night sweats but tested positive for babs and have most of the other symptoms.

I didn't take the art alone but with abx in the brew so can't give ya much feedback. But when I went to increase the art gradually upping it all hello broke loose.

All my lyme symptoms got worse & for the first & only time in my life I sweated like there's no tommorow. They would come on like hot flash's.

After I finished my babs treatment I no longer get my low grade fevers ~ that must have been all these 20 years from the babs. So it did clear something. And after I stopped babs treatments it seemed to take extra long time to clear the herx's & toxins.

Good luck with the art. Please try to ramp up slowly ~ it can hit ya like a ton of bricks.

Take care
Dana

It sounds like your body is responding to the art. Both my sons took it with abx - 300 mg daily - 3 weeks on/1 week off.

Look at the Zhang protocol to see what he recommends.

Did you see the recent postings of cryp????? being recommended by Buhner now for babs?

I hope rifing is a key to your treatment. Keep us posted.

Wow! i got the sharpest shooting pain in the spleen area this AM. It actually made me scream. I have always had low level pain there (part of why i and my docs suspect babs) but this was a definite shooting, stabbing pain. Quick but intense. I am hoping this is a result of babs being killed.

I believe that art needs to be taken with zith or one of a few other abx (I forget which ones - I'm on zith) so that the babs doesn't get resistant. Hopefully someone else can confirm this, but I know I've seen that caveat a LOT here on the boards.

We're pulsing it here - 3 weeks on and one week off. I'm also on Mepron and Bactrim along with the zith and art. Husband is babs negative, but I suspect he has it - got nasty/moody on art and now is taking his week off and is not nasty but IS fatigued pretty much. We'll see what happens when he goes back on.
