Can anyone tell me the names of the main 'offenders' (if that is what you think of them as) in Lyme research groups, who put together these poorly designed studies? Ideally their name, organization, and email or phone number.
I speak and do 'science' and I want to try to propose and co-organize a study with these people, if I can. The only way to make progress here is to bridge this gulf, and speak 'their' language and try to prove things on 'their' terms. If the treatments really work, then they can be proven in properly designed experiments.

I think that is the right approach. There is alot of history here on this, and there is already alot of peer-reviewed published data that the IDSA team that wrote the incorrect lyme guidelines have ignored.
However, to my knowledge, there are only one or two controlled studies on the use of more than a short course of abx for late stage lyme. The studies that the IDSA keep quoting, like the Klempner study, have methodological flaws and selection bias that keep it from being generalizable. There is even a peer-reviewed critical analysis published on these biases.
That however, has not stopped idsa ducks that want to deny treatment to lyme patients from citing it as proof that abx do not work against lyme disease!
I agree with you that more studies are needed. You should check out the work of Dr. F at the Columbia Lyme Center:
There is so much research needed on tick borne diseases. Most doctors are so ignorant, and people are suffering. Although there is a paucity of published research on the use of abx for chronic lyme, there is ample clinical evidence for their efficacy in long-term use.
Why in the world has this research not yet been done to date, even though lyme is the largest vector borne disease in the US, and the incidence is growing rapidly?
