My question is: Has anyone gone ON and OFF the Quinine to help minimize the herx?
I pour out part of the capsule, so I'm only taking about 100mg (instead of 324mg/day), but that's still too much.
If I take it every other day or every 3rd day, am I screwing up my treatment?
I saw in another thread that going with low doses of abx can produce resistant strains. I don't want to do more harm than good.
thanks!!!

Maybe it's the clindamycin knocking you for a loop??
Babesia herxes were worse than Lyme herxes for me.
check your PM

I did this combo, my LLMD said to start off with 1/4 or 1/3 cap of each and work up.
I was VERY ill with this combo, when I say ill, I mean, HAD to go slow or die from herxing.
Quinine was deadly for herxing.

What quinine are you taking? Primaquine? Qualaquine? Quinine powder? Just trying to narrow down all the options to figure out the best for my babs tx. Thanks.

Hi Bird
Babs herxes are the worst-- Not much you can do about them except drink Lots of tea or water --
The main thing with quinine is not to over do it because it can cause Hearing damage- Ringing--
Quinine helped me alot--Jay

Thanks for all the responses! I'm taking Qualaquin, in capsule form. (324mg capsules)
Good advice about pouring out part of the capsule. I have been doing that, although I hate to see $ going down the sink...
But I tried the alternative -- pouring some into applesauce and eating it, and the taste was unbearable!
I'm glad to hear that it is normal to herx so hard on the Babs treatment.
Jay -- thanks for the tip to drink more water and tea. I will get right on that. I saw in another thread that you're feeling better -- I'm glad to hear that!
The good news is: I had a good day yesterday!!! My first in several months! I was still having problems finding some words, but I noticed a real difference; it was better than normal. My brain felt better in general. This is such a morale booster for me.
Maybe this is the key to getting better -- kicking the Babs down.
How long did you all stay on the Babs treatment?
