I stopped by recently when I was just diagnosed. I have been on the abx treatment for a bit now which seems to have treated the fatigue and fevers, but now I seem to have developed pain and aches in both arms - pretty much from the elbows down through my hands.

Does anyone have things that have worked for them with soothing this kind of pain. I took some ibuprofen and it helped a little, but I'm not a fan of long-term use of NSAIDs.

Unfortunately, the LLMD in my area is both too expensive for me and booked out until November. So I have an appointment with a rheumatologist in October. What are people's experiences with rheumatologists?

I got no help really with a Rheumy. She gave me Lodine and some muscle relaxers and that helps some. I saw no real relief until iv antibiotics.

Good Luck

Not good at all! Read my story below!

He/she will tell you chronic lyme does not exist and you must have RA. Then they'll tell you that you need steroids and/or methotrexate. My ex-rheumie also gave me Lodine...which is no different from Celebrex or Vioxx, for the most part.

You need TREATMENT of the CAUSE of your problem....which is Lyme.

Save your money on the rheumie.

Have you considered acupuncture? In my experience, it is effective for muscle and nerve pain.

Rhumatologist did not really help me either, what helps with my arm, elbow, wrist pain is Vicodin, low impact exercise, a hot tub, and lots of rest. It seems to come at the strangest times, during work, driving, whatever. Just be careful. PM me any time.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your name*)*!)!

I am in Santa CRuz County-

Rheumies suck. Ones I have dealt with anyway.

Doc S is worth it!!!! GO TO East Bay SUpport Group in person and I bet you can find a chepaer local doc though- only the big ones are known here in the Seeking Doctros section-

We have ONE local Rheumie who treats with abx-
woman doc- others Rheumies are IDSA idiots-

Like MOnty said, acupuncture CAN help Lymies-
adjunctive to abx therapy of course (abx protocols are the only thing I have seen put chornics into full remission, period) but acupuncture is great!!! DOES help people!!!

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!*&)*!)!* )!
!*)!*)!*)!* )!*)!* )!*)!* )!

I ohpe you know that in 2003 the San Jose Enotmology Dept found 17.8% infection rates- Lyme disease- in Santa CRuz County- in ADULT ticks!!! they are rethinking the whole %s of Lyme in CA-

Welcome welcome welcome*)*!)!
Sincerely,
Sarah O.*)!*!
