I was ill for 10 years before any doctor figured out I had Lyme.
I'm still ill & trying to get well.
I've been on various antibiotics on & off for 9 months.
I did about 3 months of doxy at 400mg.
I think I started on 200mg & worked up to 400mg.
We all have different reactions to the treatment.
I never thought you could take abx for so long but you can.
I'm taking other stuff to counteract the candida issue.
I think my body started tolerating it better after a while & I didn't need the fluconazole & niastatin as much.
I have felt ill in my stomache, neauseaous, & herxing on & off.
I reduce the dosages if I start getting too ill.
I think it will take some time for me to get better - so, I just have to keep going forward with the treatment.
I think you only have to avoid dairy products 2 hours prior & 2 hours after taking the abx.
I tried to completely cut them out but I like to have a cup of coffee every day.
I did cut back on dairy alot, though. You can use sun block & try to avoid the sun.
I also like to get some light every day. I think it's healthy.
It's getting cold here so it's not as big an issue as in the summer.
I did have a problem when I did a far infrared sauna while on doxy.
I got a bit of a sunburn on my face from the far infrared waves.
Good luck!

10 years is nothing. It was more than 40 for me and there are others here with equally long times undx'd and untreated.
It's all relative!

Not really sure who your are talking about but yes, very lucky at one month. Use that opportunity that so many of us have not had.
Sparkle, I'm sorry for your 10 years of illness and for all of us who have had our lives changed forever in such an unpleasant way.
47 years to get diagnosed and my siblings and mother are not diagnosed yet but are sick too.

34 yrs. misdiagnosed by 40-50 docs/specialists!
yes, 1 month is very lucky; THEY CAN BE CURED AND LIVE THE LIFE THE REST OF US ABOVE WISH WE COULD HAVE ENJOYED!! Posted by painted turtle (Member # 7801) on :
I was a real trooper through out my life living unknowingly with lyme, bart and babs since the 1970's in Massachusetts, at that time, age 8, 9 or 10.
Then the avalanche began to slide later in the 90's. Forget about it in 2003. Complete avalanche.
Diagnosed 2005 in July.
Over two years later, much damage has been done. But I still seek healing and to live a fruitful life.

Good to hear some of you with chronic Lyme ae getting better!
I've been treating mine since February & I still am just as ill.
At least I know what I'm treating.
I guess it's just going to take time.
Seems like it's never going to go away...

Well, Sparkle, your signature quote from Lau Tzu says it all, doesn't it?
It DOES take time.
I'm going to write that quote down, I like it so much!
