I have been in a wilderness for the past 18

months. From my recollections it started with

taking Ketek (for lyme) in the fall of 2006.

After taking it for a little while I started

having hot flashes and some mood changes. I

stopped taking

the Ketek because I was feeling worse with these

symptoms. I thought things would clear up but

they continually got worse I had feelings of

chills and couldn't become warm enough and I

would become ravenous with hunger. Later in Feb.

2007 I had a very strange thing happening I woke

up having trouble speaking and feeling

disoriented the neurologist said I had a TIA

from checking the brain MRI but my primary

doctor didn't think I

had a TIA. I felt left in the cold with both my

neurologist and primary. A few months went by

and I started having problems with sugar levels

going low and having a difficult time eating

because I would have some fluctuations in my

blood pressure and would have these feelings of

warmth all over. It seems to point to something

gone wrong with my hormones and that Ketek was

the trigger. But I don't know what to do about

it or how to get some help. I am now getting

some abnormal kidney blood work which is making

me more aggressive in finding out what is going

on. I would appreciate any input anyone has.

I've called on you since there could be someone

that has some knowledge or experience with this.

I have left out somethings due to space. Thank

you!

Ketek hits lyme -but not reaches the brain -well - I had the same thing when I started Ketek and stoped DOXY

bart was another reason -that start flourishing .I would keep that in mind.

If you have it in your head-ketek -from my eks -make me relapse.

So mayeb you need a combination --for somehting to reach the BRAIN!

Ketek..I didn't think anyone prescribed that any more. My LLMD said it was the best drug for his patients at the time, but too many were having liver issues, so he pulled them all off.

He is having success with the old minocycline stand by.

With neuro issues, you might get tested for bartonella.

There was an article in Readers Digest last month, or the month before, about KETEK and how it could cause severe liver damage w/in 5 days.
The article was about the antiquated condition of the FDA. [Mad]

Maybe it messes with other organs (kineys) too?

I started on Ketek two years ago, along with Omnicef, Plaquenil and supps.

I was on it for 8 months and I made amazing progress during that time.

i took milk thistle the entire time and had my liver functions monitored closely.

i know that research is constantly evolving, but i would not consider Reader's Digest to be a medical journal worthy of overruling what my LLMD recommends.

I would suggest you contact your LLMD about what is going on and proceed according to his suggestions.
