I have all of a sudden developed tiny mole-like red dots.
I don't ever remember having them before.
Does anybody else have these.
Are they from the Lyme or the abx?

I have those, what abx are you on, did they start after treatment? I had those, still do, and they are 90% gone, after levaquin. I think its bart.

Maybe petechiae or cherry angiomas.
Many, many things can cause both of these.
Tick-borne diseases may be a cause.

Babesia is associated with petechiae but as already mentioned, so are many other things. It's caused by bleeding under the skin.

jenin98 - I am on doxycycline.
I have been on it for 16 days. Prior to that I was taking Ceftin for 18 days.
I know my husband has them, but it's weird they just appeared within the last couple of weeks.

I have an appointment with a dermatologist on Friday for him to see if they feel they are, or are not petechiae. Devin is testing positive for Lyme and Babesia

I have these too and have a bart / lyme dx.
My LLMD is not certain if they are TBD related. I know Dr. J S believes them to be Bart related, but this is controversial.
Will say I did NOT have them until last several years, about the time first neuro sx's began.
Just another puzzle...cannot wait to start Bart tx, somethings gotta work! MBB3

OK I think that they are bart.
I did use levaquin and HH capsules and rifapmin and I have the last one faded.
It became better on drugs chasing bart.

I am not sure I could take a photo, they are way tiny.
They are like your smallest mole, but red and even a bit raised like a mole.
If you apply pressure they do not dissapear.

i thougth that those spots are common in babesia...i have a bunch and tested negative for bart but positive for babesia.

Mine are painless...however I do have shingle-like burning from the neuropathy!!!
Another note, these papules do not 'blanche' when you press them like many skin blemishes, in other words they stay red/purple etc and don't lighten.
They are clearly broken blood-vessels or capillaries. Aparently these appear for MANY reasons, some of which are infections.
I have many and didn't have them before I started having Lyme/Bart sx's.

Wow, that's funny. I have them too, and never associated them with what is going on in terms of my Lyme diagnosis.
However, they did start about 10-15 years ago, same time line as my Lyme/other tbis. So I'm guessing they are connected.

I tend to get these everytime I begin a new treatment. I used to think it was something "trying to get out" like a toxin or something but now I'm thinking it could be a bart related rash. I may just never know for sure!

My LLMD called mine vascular rashes. They appeared soon after starting Rifampin for Bart.

Cherry angiomas like you describe can be attributed to Babesia.

I have these also. Slightly raised and mole-like is a good description. Sprinkled about, but only on the lower stomach area. Showed them to the PCP. Can't remember what she said - but that they were nothing noteworthy.

my son's are so small that it will be difficult to get a photo. I do not think his are raised... and many are surrounded by paler skin... with the dots in the center. He has them on hands, arms, knees, stomach and face.

Maybe vasculitis, possibly associated with tickborne illness or auto-immune disease...but get a blood count taken with a platelet level as bleeding under the skin (or anywhere else) is nothing to fool with.

Are you taking any milk thistle to support your liver? These spots may also indicate that your liver is a bit toxic.
I get these and use the milk thistle daily, just in case..

My son went to the dermatologist this morning... She said that petechaie will not blanch went pressed (just like a bruise will not disappear when pressed).
This dermatologist did a punch biopsy to try to better classify what is going on... some type of vascular event.
Also the dermatologist told us that the 'stretch marks' on my son's back, are in fact true stretch marks and NOT bartonella.

Of course s/he's going to say that. A derm is hardly Lyme Literate. Unless, of course, this one is, but I doubt it.
I'd definitely ask a Lyme Literate doctor if they were stretch marks or Bartonella. They are more knowledgable to give you the right answer.

I am sorry that you are having this experience with your young son.
Having had 16 years experience with a child with Lyme and Co Infections, IMO you are wasting you time and putting your son through unnecessary stress taking him from MD to MD trying to find out about something that is Lyme related.
If it isn't bleeding, broken or life threatening don't bother. Take him to your LLMD, the other Doctors are clueless.
The red mole looking things are babesia related. Tiny red spots that are not raised, I have no clue.
After 16 years of dealing with Lyme and Co, I don't get too excited about rashes on and under the skin anymore. Have seen many come and go.
Unless of couse it is red/purple blotches under the skin...........THEN get to an MD.

Our first llmd in NJ told us tht the red dots were Bartonella related. He saw them in most of his Bart patients. At the time he was studying Bartonella, and was and I am sure still is very knowledable on the subject.

i have tons of them on my stomach and legs. i didn't have them before lyme that i can remember.
i have bart. am on treatment now with biaxin, flagyl, and cipro.
i hope they do away. i hate wearing shorts...
