I have been on Ceftin (generic) for the past 10 months....
I tried twice to ween after being symptom free many months....but backslid both times and had to ramp back up.
My questions is that this is the only abx I've been on and need a recommendation on a Cyst buster to take w/ the Ceftin.
I have an appt. w/ my LLMD next month and plan to bring this up w/ her.
Any help is appreciated!
thanks...dch

I take Tindamax with Ceftin.

Flagyl, tinidazole or Tindamax... which is the same as tini, I believe.

How fast was the backslide?

perhaps Plaquenil if the other two are too strong?

MB,
probably about a week off the abx...

A one week backslide signals "potential" co-infection. Be aware of that. That fact often lurks beneath the surface of many cases.
Consider GSE, Plaquenil, Tindizole, Flagyl, Rifampin, have been reported in the scientific literature to do the job for Cysts.
Look at your symptom pattern, and evaluate for co-infections if you don't already know these things.

Yeah I've thought about Co's also... I was tested for them last year...but came back negative.I know that doesn't mean that much...
My symptoms basically are head pressure, flu like feeling, fatigue, anxiety/ mild depression...

Consider Bartonella then, or BLO (Bartonella-like-organism). They are two different things, but can cause similar symptoms. You may, or may not have it, but it's so extremely common, and so often overlooked.
A 1 week backslide from Lyme Disease is "too fast" given the rate at which Lyme Disease reproduces.
Testing is obviously pathetic at best for BLO, though Fry labs is successful at present in finding cases through their blood smear.
Drugs that shouldn't work on you, but do, would be Levaquin or Bactrim.
If either of those are used, and you notice drastic improvements within weeks, you know the BLO is a potential threat, because neither respond to Lyme Disease at all. Unfortunately these medications aren't exactly human-friendly. They are rough drugs.
