There has been a very important development taking place. Dr. Oz, of Oprah fame, did a radio show on Lyme disease and Under Our Skin. You can listen to it by clicking on http://www.zshare.net/audio/51988431783ad036/

Note, Dr. Oz asked for letters from patients with Lyme disease giving specifics on if we had long term antibiotic treament and if it cured us.....or at least put us into remission.

Dr. Oz doesn't understand the complexity of our disease, however he is willing to learn. So this is our opportunity to educate him by sharing our experience. For those of us on long term antibiotic treatment to remain in remission ....we need to make our case known.

We need to make our point short and end it with there is NO cure....we need more research. Also please refrain from showing anger in your letter....be factual and sincere, and keep it on a professional level. I say this because in the past, due to unfortunate bad experience with Lyme patients, Oprah has stayed away from having anything to do with Lyme disease.

This is a huge opportunity for us. With Dr. Oz's popularity, winning him over could be the tipping point for us. Please, please write to him so he gets an idea of how many chronic Lyme patients there are out here.

I sent an email, but even after MAJOR pruning, it was too long for the max 2000 characters allowed. So I trimmed it further, but then it became a little meaningless. So, I sent a hard copy to Andy Wilson at Open Eye pix and asked him to forward it to Dr. Oz as well!

We'll see. But this is all very helpful/hopeful.

Sent mine today. My two children are showing improvement after a few months of high dose amox. So, I told about that. Since I have had it for at least 15-20 years, maybe more, I told him that I expected to need much longer treatment. I also told him that I believe my kids got it transplacentally. I sent it to his e-mail.

I had sent one a while back. Maybe I should do it again now that a LD confirmed I am chronic.
