I tried to do a search on this subject but it seems the search tool isn't working at this time.
This Friday I am going to get a PIC line put in me so that I can
take doxy as I have not been able to tolerate it orally.
Doxy was working fine for me but after two months it's done a
real number on my stomach. I am not looking forward to
having this done but since I need to continue with doxy I have
no choice but to have the PIC line put in me. I would be
interested in hearing from others how this has worked out for
them. Any comments, advice and feedback would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks!

My son had a PICC line last year for six weeks. You should be given instructions on how to care for your PICC line. It is important to follow them to prevent infection. Administering the drugs is pretty easy; my son was able to do it himself.
Be aware of any signs of problems. My son spiked a hihg fever after not feeling well one day, and sure enough, the PICC line had become infected. That meant a trip to the emergency room and admission to the hospital. We were fortunate that we caught this quickly, so that sepsis did not occur.

GWB,
It's not too bad. Just make sure that you are keeping The PICC line and area in general very clean and dry.
Call your doctor or home health nurse with any complications, never "guess" at what a problem might be.
To search about Picc lines, go to search and enter PICC, not PIC. Lots of previous info there.
Good luck, Feelfit

iv doxy made a big difference for me. I had a picc for almost 5 months this summer. I also took iv rifampin for some of that time.
Look over some of my posts and others, there is a lot of good information for the care and feeding of your new pet
Getting it placed was really no big deal-don't stress about it.
