Hi all, I am writing this as I speak with Tracy while she is in the hospital...
There is irony as well as tragedy in this situation.
Tracy went to the hospital today for routine bloodwork. However, the lab at her regular hospital was closed and so she went to a nearby hospital... while she was waiting she fell sort of breath and bent over the counter.
She said not to worry - that she just felt a little bit breathless... and she was immediately thrown into a wheelchair which they carted into a room.
They think that she could have had a small heart attack but they are investigating further. They are aware of the clot history (and present).
While they were scanning her lungs for embolism etc, they, instead of finding a clot, found a 9 mm nodule in the right anterior lobe of her lungs with a crushed glass appearance.
So, they are going to have more information on this suspicious nodule tomorrow, when it can be read more thoroughly by another doctor. They plan on keeping her there until at least Monday.
You see, the irony in all of this is that she needed to be taken into the hospital every day over the past few weeks and the docs kept turning her away... And voila, somehow she landed herself there via a routine bloodwork visit!
Ok, so I wrote what she wanted me to write - but now for my input.... If anybody can go visit her, I will get more info on where she is later or somebody can track Black down. I am not sure what hospital she is in as of now.
Please everybody say prayers or send good vibes or whatever you do for our friend who has been through hell and back as of late. She helps so many, and yet gets her butt kicked in every which way by this disease, the doctors, and clots from hell, etc. Let's help her to get well however we can! We miss Tracy and want her well and happy and hope that there will be an end to this chain of bad luck that will now transpire into good health and fortune in the immediate future!
Thanks everybody... This is for Tracy
I will keep you posted.

I send my best wishes to Tracy... and sorry she is stuck there.
But I do have to add...
You all might want to say a prayer for the ducks she will be coming in contact with in the duck motel.
My bet is she will have a mouthful of tail feathers when she leaves that place!
And some ducks will be looking around for months after she leaves to be sure she isn't sneaking up on them as they are walking down the halls.... and biting at their web feet!
Good luck Tracy! Feel better soon!

Tracy,
Not sure what the term "crushed glass appearance" means regarding the pulmonary nodule.
Hubby has at least 6 or 8 of these -- think there is one almost as large as yours. Depending on the location of the nodule -- if possible do a bronchoscopy rather than a surgical biopsy.
I think Luvs said you had a CT scan and not just an x-ray. I would also ask for a SPECT or PET scan before doing either the brochoscopy or sugical biopsy.
Hubby is pretty sure his nodules are from bart but we don't really know. They have been there at least 5 years. Hubby's biopsy just showed inflammation with unknown etiology. Did not have tissue tested for tick-borne diseases. We did a follow-up CT scan every 6 months for first 3 years to rule out cancer and then every year since.
Other things to rule out besides cancer (SPECT or PET might answer that) are sarcoidosis and histoplasmosis. Bloodtests for these 2.
Get better soon.

Sounds like Bea has some great advice on the nodule, which sounds like another manifestation of lyme & company.

Posted by lymeric (Member # 16465) on :
I just talked to Tracy, she's o.k. No heart attack, she thinks maybe it was a babs flare. She's in a room now, possibly for a couple of more days, while they try to determine what's going on in her lung.
Coincidentally, her new hematologist was available at the alternate hospital to her own. She had a nice experience with her, and feels 100% better about the new doctor. Who will probably prescribe a anti-coagulant that won't interfere with the IVs. And the heplock situation is in order.
She misses everybody very much; can't wait to get back online, , and sends love and to all!

Update: 10:50 EST Sunday
Thanks to all for you nice thoughts and prayers.
Tracy is still in the hospital as of Sun Pm. Tomorrow Monday she will have some more tests to decide if she can be released, as well if they want to treat her DVT in the hospital. She will be having a stress test, EKG, more blood work and another ultrasound on her arm. She is in good spirits and under good care. I think she feels relieved to finally be getting care for her arm.
Her new hematologist that she had an appt w. on Tues just happened to be the dr on call and recalled her name from her new patient list. She brought all Tracy's records to the hospital. This was a pleasant surprise and will finally solve the end-old blood clot dilemma--- as no one else wanted to treat her. So in the end this will be treated either in the hospital with heparin or outpatient and they will monitor the meds.
I brought her all kids of stuff including a couple of Hershey bars with Almonds. I printed the posts about her on Lyme Friends. She was so happy to hear from everyone.... it made her night. She misses all of you so much.....
The nurses and Dr's have all been Lyme friendly and she has encountered no hassles about her Lyme whatsoever.
Anyway I will let all know more after I go over tomorrow--- we will see if she will be released or will stay.
Take Care
Blake

hr, thanks for update.
is the DVT in her ARM since she will have an ultrasound on it?
mine they tried ultrasound on me from groin starting downward, but the pain was so intense and pushing down on me was just pure hell .. i told them to STOP!
i'll take my chances as is vs. them killing me there on the bed!
did i know how serious it was? yes .. my father-in-law died of one that went from his leg from RR train accident to his heart killing him.

Tracy, I am so glad you finally are getting good care at this hospital. I was too sick to post the last many days and was so worried about you with your clot and everything. I am glad you are now in good hands and finally have a good Hematologist!
You have my best wishes for a speedy recovery and that everything is ok with that nodule - that it dissipates never to be heard from or bother you again.
I wish you the best!
