I have Lyme. Both my son's were just tested. Here are their results. My natural dr did the test and says it's positive and also concidered their symptoms. We haven't been to the LLMD yet. What does everyone else think?

My oldest son's results:
IGM: 41 ++, 39 IND, 31 IND
IGG: 41 ++, 39 IND, 31 IND

My youngest son's results:
IGM: 41 +, 39 IND
IGG: 41 +

From what I heard, band 31 plus any other specific band means he has lyme. So, the oldest looks like he has it for sure.

My daughter has 31 and 41 and I am getting her. treated.

Also, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, some bands don't show up right away. Do they both have symptoms??

Thanks for your reply!

Yes the both have symptoms. Weird thing is that my youngest has the most symptoms and his results are weaker.

I'm sorry so many in your family are sick.

Sometimes those who are the sickest have fewer bands because their immune system is not functioning well.

An LLMD may try an abx challenge and then re-test. This will sometimes show more positive bands.

This happens frequently. The more sick you are the less bands show up, because the disease supresses the immune system.

Many with chronic Lyme get negative test results...false negative.

Thanks everyone! This is very helpful!

I believe it too. But my husband and his family are the one's that need proof. So it's going to be interesting!

I just hope their LLMD appt goes well. They are going to see the one that I see right now cause he's close and takes our insurance.

My two cents is that you don't have enough bands to consider lyme as a reason for your sons illness. You have band 41 only on the IgG and IgM WB test. Lots of people test positive to band 41. Dr. F at Columbia throws out the IND results.

I'd look elsewhere for your son's problems. Consider viral infections, HHV-6, EBV, Parvo, or enterovirus.

Someone else here said it....Lyme is a clinical dx.

I just noticed something when I read the tests in more detail and compared them to mine. (Mine are CDC positive.)
So on the IgM test is says you only need 2 of the following bands to be CDC positive....23-25, 39, 41

So they both have 41++ and both have 39 IND. If the IND was a positive then they both would be CDC positive. Kind of interesting since IND is like a 1/2 positive or at least that band is there but not very strong.

Oh and the both have many Lyme symptoms. Way too many to list here. But many common ones.

Anxious to see what my LLMD says...

The problem with relying on a "clinical diagnosis" for lyme is many pathogens can give the same symptoms. You cannot tell the difference between a chronic viral infection and a chronic bacterial infection by symptoms. Hence the need to take a thorough history and run a bunch of lab tests.

If your think lyme is the problem, run the tests again at Stonybrook. Then run the viral pathogens at Focus Diagnostics. Pick what (if anything) looks most obvious, and treat that.

What lab was used? When my kids were first tested by regular doc through Quest I think or Lab Corp all they had was one or two bands and 41 was always in there. However, when I took them to a LLMD and had Igenex WB done both were CDC positive - my older one for IGM and my younger one for IGG. My younger one was actually more sick because it is believed I did pass it on to him through birth or breast fedding..........they ahd Babesia also which made them even sicker. They are doing excellent in school and sports now but had 3 years of treatment!
