It is well noted in medical literature of arterial vasculitis in the brain from Bb.
You can do a google and find a large amount of cases.
I don't know what skin changes you refer.
You do not have to have a rash or spots to have Lyme disease.
Blood tests miss most cases but worth a try at a Lyme specific lab like Igenex.
But if I had vasculitis I would want the antibiotics no matter what, especially if steroids made it worse.

I was diagnosed with vasculitis. But I did have an increase in the mottled-skin rash. It looked similar to this:
ALso I had reduced pulse detection in the lower half of my body. The doc looked for strength of pulse points with a stethoscope from the groin, behind the knees and the ankles. I did not have any further bloodwork for the vasculitis.
Turns out it that in my case it was Bartonella that was flaring badly and causing it. Resuming Bart treatment helped.

Funny they mention Syphilis as a cause but not Lyme. Are you still being treated for Bb or just Bart?

I'm in treatment for everything right now Lyme/Babs/Bart/Mycoplasma Pneumonia. My docs told me that they've seen vasculitis particularly with Bart, but also they see it with Lyme.
In my own particular case, it was Bart that was causing mine.

Biopsy of the sural nerve demonstrated an axonal neuropathy with a neurogenic muscular atrophy. Treatment with high dose corticosteroids had no beneficial effect. A biopsy taken from a recurring ulcer 7 years after the beginning of the disease revealed superficial ulcerated hyperkeratosis with subepithelial proliferation of small vessels compatible with a diagnosis of verruca peruana, however, without detection of microorganism. Serologic analysis revealed an elevated IFT titer of 1:1,024 against B. henselae. Treatment with erythromycin induced healing of the ulcer, remission of the vasculitis and the polyneuropathy, and a decline of the IFT titer.
This case illustrates that B. henselae infection should be considered in patients with vasculitis and polyneuropathic syndromes.

I hate it for anyone.
This article is vague for me.
Do they mean they had sores that no treatment healed them
or that it took them 7 years before they switched doctors and finally got treated.
Sounds Lymie to me.
Sorry --I try to keep my sense of humor.
My grandmother had toxo for years DX by sight only, so it could have been anything, and the scratch on her ankle never healed.
She always had a sore there. And her ankles were huge and she had to have special shoes made for her.
Of course medicine was lacking back then and a lot of antibiotics were not rurally available in the early 70's.
And it was a Dr. who made house calls with a little black bag.
She also had the funny mottled skin but I never connected the two till now.
I always thought because I was just 10-14, it was because she was old.
Of course you have showed me it was not why.
She gave me my love of gardening and growing things.
That I haven't the strength to do right now but pray I will again.
While you are in treatment remember to keep your immune system up.
You got to do your work at that while the antibiotics are doing theirs.

what symptoms made the doctor diagnose you with
vasculitis and did steroids fix it or only abx?

Bart is the main culprit of vasculitus. There is a guy in Kansas that is the best at this test and reading it. He is lyme literate too.

Hi Fuzzy...
I have the same thing as in the pictures, it look exactly like livedo,they're on my both arms and knee.
I also just had a false positive syphyllis test. my primary care doctor think Lupus and want to send me to an ID.
I look on one of the link you post and it say that it may be Lupus, any idea?
